Writing a good algorithm to boot idiots off the internet is pretty difficult but videos from Danny and Johnny trying to educate the public on how to behave properly is a good step forward
@fanirama @thomasmccormack I hear what you are saying.
1. Sales are not always there for the game you want but weekly there is a game on sale which I would like to play. I have a backlog of about 15 games on my Steam account now. I never pay more than 10$ for a AAA game but it might be a couple of years old.
2 and 3. If I need a new motherboard it is true that I cant just buy any old one but I see no reason to throw away my HDD, the case, my keyboard etc.
8. Yes you can play most games with a keyboard and mouse but some games are nicer with a gamepad.
@komuchen @thomasmccormack Didnt know that about EU Steam. I live in South America and I just pay US prices. I just bought Dark Souls for 8$ yesterday. I could never find that game that cheap anywhere else. You are right about being able to buy 3rd party gamepads for consoles forgot about that but I bet PS and Xbox charge them a fee to do so so the cost is pased on to us.
No. 1 This might be true for the US but every country I have lived in charges a lot more for an xbox game than a pc game in steam. Just go look at the xbox online service and shudder. Yes I only buy games on sale.
No. 8 means specific components. I have to buy an xbox controller for an xbox. I have no other options and therefore they can charge me a mint.
Besides the graphics question, I decided to go PC for the next gen as a major money saver. Although it is possible to build a 5 to 600$ gaming PC you probably want to spend more. In terms of the initial investment a PC is NOT cheaper.
However it is much cheaper in the short to long term.
1. Games on sites like Steam are a fraction of the price of the same console game and usually have more options. In this way alone you make your money back very quickly. 2.As I mentioned above, if something breaks it is relatively easy and cost effective to replace. If you had a console break, you know this is not the case.
3. When you want to upgrade to the "next generation" you just need to go buy the parts you need and do not need to replace the whole thing unlike a console. 4. Playing online does not have an additional service fee. 5. There are more and more free to play games out there. 6. 100% backwards compatible. (may require some tweaking depending on you version of Windows)
8. You do not need to buy specific overpriced components like Turtle Beach headphones or a PS gamepad. You can pay what you like for headphones with a mic. Same goes for a game pad.
In sum, as a short to long term investment a PC is so much cheaper.
