The extreme sports competition held by ESPN this summer have announced that the competitive video game Call of Duty: Ghosts will have a part in the annual competition next june.

"In order to capitalize on a rapidly growing competitive league right in the heart of its demographic, X Games together with Major League Gaming announced Monday there will be a Call of Duty tournament as part of X Games Austin in June." -ESPN's Ryan Garfat

This unprecedented event got me thinking of how the mainstream audience seem to be taking video games more serious or at least the competitive scene. Yes, the X Games aren't the most mainstream audience, but certainly this event its not a place I expected to see video games as a medalist competition.

Video games have been around this extreme sports for a while, franchises like Tony Hawk Pro Skater even get official endorsement from professional athletes. But the fact that the game being shown is Call of Duty is a whole other issue.

What do you think of a video game being brought to a sports event?

Never done it as a customer but I've work at a retailer at the time Halo 4 and Black Ops II came out. The store was in a mall and everything was closed and dark, really scary, I love the industry but I have to mention that working at that store kinda suck during midnight release, we had to left until like 3 am and then work the next (or same) day just like a regular so.

I'm not complaining, seeing that much people waiting for a game got to me exicted as well, I just wanted to put that side of the coin here 'cause I remember wanting to go home so much that night...

Besides what do you think about the future of midnight releases with the digital pre-order/pre-download now a days?

Gamespot's "Random Encounter", "The Lobby" and "House of Horrors"

Machinima's Inside Gaming Live is really funny and some Dota 2 tournaments when I find them live.

Before I talk about the apparently never-ending "Console War" let's check some numbers. As of April 16th, Sony announced that the PS4 have sold over 7 million units to consumers, TO CONSUMERS! Microsoft also announced some numbers recently by saying that the Xbox One has shipped 5 million units, but wait, this 5 million consoles aren't sold to customers like the Sony console, instead this number includes both consumers and retailers, wich of course means the real consoles sold are under this 5 million figure.

Now, this being said, Is the PS4 beating the Xbox One, well... The Xbox one is not doing so bad actually. Microsoft announced that the Xbox One shipping numbers are better than those of the Xbox 360 by 60% at the same time since launch.

Being a PS4 user this numbers made me think I made the right choice when I buy the console but this thought was immediately interrupted by the question: Then why I'm not using it? Since I buy my PS4 at day one I knew the game library wasn't going to be impressive, the delay in watch dogs and practically no really next-gen game coming out with it beside Killzone and Knack wich don't really attracted me, I decided to buy the console because I knew that over time It was the right way to go. I bought it with Battlefield 4 and I thought: "This'll keep me entertained while destiny goes out", well Destiny is not coming out soon and now with a newly built gaming PC I started thinking: Is the PS4 the best console?

Numbers about the PS4 are great, record-breaking for the industry even but the Xbox One have the numbers I think are the most impressive, software sales. Titanfall, the Xbox and PC exclusive title from the creators of Call of Duty, outsold which apparently was the really next-gen experience on the Sony platform, the first party PS4 exclusive Infamous: Second Son. I know that these are two very different games but it's really impressive that most people are playing games in the console that has sold the least.

From my point of view, as a PS4 consumer, I keep doubting that the Sony console was the way to go, but I still hope that the amazing E3 conference and the pre release campaigns weren't meant to fool us and of course I know, the last gen lifespan isn't really over so I guess it's too soon to start complaining.

Dota 2, Danny O'dwyer was right when he said it ruins your life!

I started playing 2 months ago and since I play with my friends because its free to play I play every single day!

It's kinda intimidating at the beggining cause all the pro scene around it but you can cath up really fast. It's a must try if you have friends to be with you in your doom.
