The first one has an obvious answer. The second one shows your ignorance about, one, funding (Kickstarter has not been the only source of revenue, they have sponsors and subscription plans of all shapes and sizes) and two, much of the millions of dollars that go to publisher-backed AAAs is spent in corporate bull.
The bigger the company the greater the mismanagement of resources and the egos to please.
You sound more like an EA employee than an Internet person interested in the facts.
@jeffrobin You are most probably right. Any way, we all know by now how much of a difference OS-focused optimisation makes, so I might say I am hopeful. I skipped this generation of consoles, but I think I might give next one a try.
I believe the point about OSs is correct. I have been able to try Doom3 on Linux a long time ago, around 2007, and I was amazed at how much more easily the same computer ran the game. It was astonishing. Without Windows to drag things to a crawl we're very likely to have similar PC behaviour in next-gen consoles.
