So to upgrade or not, will there be any performance increase?

Ok so I currently have a 2.67 Ghz i5 750 Quad with a Gigabyte H55M-UD2H motherboard. Is the upgrade I described not worth it? I'm also wondering if the 690 could be fully utilized by the current motherboard. The main reason i'm doing all this is because my current system absolutely tanks while playing Far Cry 3, dipping below 30 FPS when maxed out with a GTX690 way more than often.

really? i laugh playing fc3. my cpu is the same socket as yours

Which is why I feel the percieved need to upgrade something....

The motherboard is good but the price is weird. The MSI G45 Gaming edition has the same overclocking features/dual card support but for alot less money http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130687

metacritical

the more expensive one allows 3-way crossfire

So I will still be able to dual crossfire unhindered with the MSI board? Oh and as a sidenote, how much will the jump in performance from a 2.8 - 3.2 ghz i5 quad to a 4.0 - 4.5 ghz i7?

8gb is MORE than sufficient

and this:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130660

is the board you want

also dont get a gtx 690 unless its used and for a reasonable price. gtx 780 is superior for cheaper

Thanks, your ram statement is happily noted. Ah and actually the 690 is the only component I already possess, so I'm doing more of a CPU upgrade. I suppose that board wont have any problems overclocking the 3770k? Thanks again!

Ok so i'm upgrading my computer the day after tomorrow. I'm going to have an intel 3770k i7 (which I want to overclock to about 4.0 - 4.5 Ghz), 16 GB RAM (Or should I stick with 8?) and a GTX 690. With this setup in mind could someone please explain the difference between the following two motherboards: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130660, http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131974. Also, is 16 GB RAM necessary or is * alright for gaming standards.

Thanks for the suggestion! My signature is wrong I'm actually rocking a 690 now, I'm much more focused on really good colour contrast and response time than size, what do you think the next step up from 1920x1200 is and how high could I go with my GPU?

Hi I'm looking for a really good monitor for my setup and I'm hoping one of you fine gentlemen could point me in the right direction. I'm not really interested in something larger than 1920x1200.

I recently upgraded my gpu to a gtx 690, However in certain games I get some suprisingly low fps, in particular playing far cry 3 I can get as low as 30. My specs are below.
