I would say that I may have gotten lucky with Divinity OS for the first map area. As now I'm in the second area and the fights seem much harder. Well, maybe not so much the combat but, game mechanics to get past some of the later areas. Great game and I have yet to feel bored.

I am not sure 2014 will be the best year ever for CRPGs, but it certainly is one of the best. To me this marked more or less the revival of the CRPG genre for me, after the dark ages showcased by games like Fallout 3, Oblivion and Dragon Age 2. This game i

Agreed, but the RPGs that can stand on story alone like the ones you mentioned are pretty damn few and far between.

I like PST as much as the next guy, but give me a game with good combat, mechanics, monster variety and a thin justification for going deeper into the dungeon or wherever and you can keep your "roleplaying". I grew up on that early ad&d stuff son.

I would love an RPG like that as well, sadly, I doubt we will see one any time soon. Afterall, since the 7th gen the vast majority of RPGs up until recently struggled to get even one aspect done right. I made a few enemies on these boards by stating that wRPGs had fallen so low, I actually preferred the jRPG offerings over the AAA garbage we had.

That last line is a bit steep. JRPGs have been pretty horrible for over a decade now. They too once had very good story lines but, I haven't seen one since Xenogears on the PS1. It's been bad for so long now that I have stopped playing them all together.

I do find it strange that gamespot has yet to review the game. I guess that what happens when they don't pay for one.

Are people playing on hard? I been playing on normal and don't think it's all that challenging. I'm not saying it's easy but, I found DAO to be harder. I think I've only lost one fight and that was to a boss that was two levels above me. I made a fire mage and rogue for my mains but, I don't find them to be any better than the two companions you pick up in the first city.

Haven't had many problems questing either. I seem to finish them simply by wandering around and fighting enemies. I'm a bit confused as too why so many people are having a hard time with it. Crafting is simply dragging and dropping items that look like they go together. If your skill level is too low it will pop up a message on screen.

I fail to see what makes this a Baldur's Gate style RPG.

If anything it is Ultima 7 style. But yes, so far it has been a great game.

for those of us that played it with the "pause to act" style combat... it is exactly like playing baldurs gate.

Wut?

Divinity OS is turn base. You don't need to pause in Divinity because characters go in order. Baldur's Gate you had to pause. Makes me wonder if you really have played these games if you haven't notice or understand the difference.

Why would they need a survey? I think they know the massive problems with their game.

Dude you are in the minority here with your criticism of Skyrim. Name another game with zero multiplayer that is still topping the most played charts years after its release. The Elder Scrolls series has always been hugely popular and well received.

Criticizing someone's taste in games because they liked Skyrim is pretty fail. Just because you don't agree with him does not make his review any less credible.

But if you like Skyrim you objectively have bad taste in games. Skyrim is a fucking mess of game design, sale numbers don't reflect on the quality of the game.

Stop being a poor reader please. Did I say sales? No I did not say sales. Did I say most PLAYED? Yes I did say most played. Skyrim's record for most concurrent users was just broken last month, for a game out since 2011. Even after being out for years it is still one of the most played games on Steam in April 2014. You can talk about what a "bad game" it is all you want, but you are in the minority. People don't make a shitty game the most played ever on Steam, and certainly they don't continue making it one of the top 10 played games on a daily basis years after it is out.

So let's talk about the "fucking mess of game design" in Skyrim, absolutely you can say that. But the good in the game far outweighs the bad. The problem with ESO? It gives you all the bad Skyrim has to offer but leaves out everything that makes Skyrim great. End of story.

Well why would you expect ESO, an MMO, to be like Skyrim anyway?

I personally don't think ESO needs to be skyrim to be a good game though the freedom would have been nice. That's about the only thing I would change....other than bugs and the auction/guild bank store.

I don't know. Maybe because it has "ELDER SCROLLS" in the title? Call me crazy but, I and perhaps a few million people out there were expecting it to be like an Elder Scrolls game. We didn't go in thinking in would be an MMO racing game. If you think it doesn't need to be like an Elder Scrolls game then they should of called it some thing else and not have paid Bethesda for the license. What they are doing is called false advertising. Lucky for me I got in the Beta and was bored out of my mind. So I never put down the money to buy it. I feel bad for the people that bought it expecting a Elder Scrolls game.
