let the screen stay black and keep waiting. does it go bluescreen saying you had an error with nvlddmkm.sys? if so its a known issue with the gtx and vista. google nvlddmkm.sys errors and you'll find lots of info on it. still no real solution though.

i have the same problem on occasion as well. it seems like it happens much less if i do not OC my gfx card though. i dont think its temp related however.

comp_atkins

aha ... so next time it happends i'll just wait, then if it showed me that error then its a known issue n i dont have to worry :) !!

[QUOTE="Bebi_vegeta"]What are your temps?Bebi_vegeta

never caught the GTX goin over 87 which i think is just fine,

and the CPU is from 55 to 65 undel load ... so that should be fine too ... !

Well since your gaming after long hours of crysis... then it must go over 90c... that might be the cause.

Maybe you have collected alot dust... clean it out.

even if it goes over 90 that should be fine ... GTXs are fine till they reach about 120 when they Auto-shutdown

might be the clocking , or the same thing i had which was the processor got locked on x6 with 1.6mhz and kept overheating from time to time cousing me to lose Frame rate and crashing the comp to shutdown .
if so i've posted a topic on how i fixed my problem.

I DLed CPUZ and found the Multiplier x6 which is 2000.1MHZ :) thought it was locked but when i ran the stress test it went up to x8 giving 2666.7MHZ ... so it wasn't locked down, it was just idling ... ! :) so i guess that the problem isnt from the CPU ... !

Hey all, hope u're all okay !!
well, the situation is as follows ... System Specs:

Gigabyte P35-DQ6 Mobo
Intel E6750 2.66GHZ/4MB L2 Cache/1333FSB
2x1024MB Kingston DDR2
500GB SATA WD Harddisk
eVGA 8800GTX 768MB
Case Gigabyte 3D Aurora Thermalsolution(3 x 120mm Blue LED Fan)
Power Supply TR2-550W Thermaltake
DVD+-RW BenQ Double-Layer
LG 19" Widescreen Monitor L194wt

This rig is like 4 months old,it has been used for gaming and it showed no problems since it was assembled ...But this problem appeared this week during playing Crysis and Prostreet , after abt 3 to 4 hours of gaming the system crashes and stops responding, then my monitor turns OFF .... the only solution to this crash is a Restart , after I restart everything turns just fine and windows asks "Start Win Normally" or "Safe Mode" ...etc (Using Vista x32 btw)

I THINK its something related to the GFX card since the monitor shut down , i hope its not a physical problem and its just a software issue, Drivers, windows ...etc

Please guys, need ur opinion ... any help would be appreciated !!!

[QUOTE="sovetski"]

I even edited my files to allow Very High settings to be displayed. Game still runs great, and everything's stock. No OCing here.

ElectricNZ

Someone is fulla ****, there is no 8800gts 768mb, even if you had a 8800 ultra and a 4200 (which is rubbish), you wouldnt be able to max all settings with MAX AA!!! .... that would give you like 5 fps.

i think he meant 8800 GTX but its a typing mistake , and now am maxxing all settigs with 4x AA !! :D , getting from 15 to 20 FPS ... no slowing down no lagging, runs like a charm :) !
