Thanks a lot for the replies, they've been helpful. I haven't gotten an arcade stick yet, but I'm seriously considering it...because I keep getting my ass handed to me online. I would play as Sagat and half of the specials and combos I try to do would not come out. Sometimes even simple blocking wouldn't work against normal combos. And some combos I worked on in training mode for some reason get blocked in the middle in online play, or just wouldn't work or wouldn't come out. My tiger shots work only 4/5ths of the time. It's absurd how horrible I am. This one chun-li player perfected me twice. I just couldn't do anything. I would block some combo of hers, then try tiger knee to get a little space, but lo and behold, it would magically not work and instead Sagat was just sitting there like a retard so the chun-li player did the same combo again and it worked this time because I wasn't blocking. I figure I might as well spend some money on an arcade stick now that I've already invested $60 for the game+controller package not to mention the time I've already sunk into this.

I was a casual alpha 3 player and decided to try out SF4 for the pc along with the standard d-pad controller. I have serious trouble executing simple combos, for example Sagat's normal trial 4. The first combo you have to do is jumping HK, crouching MK, cancel into tiger knee crush, cancel into tiger genocide. The first two come out fine, usually. But every time I input tiger knee crush into the controller, Sagat instead throws a tiger shot and immediately after a tiger genocide. It seems that no matter how fast I input tiger knee crush, it never comes out. And it seems weird how combos are done. I was on Sakura, and I tried one of her trials, which started with jumping HP, then MP, followed by some other commands. I didn't have too much of a problem, but just for the hell of it I tried to see what exactly is the window of time for executing a combo - I went in with jumping HP then instead of mashing MP, I just pressed it once. And no matter how fast I did it or how long I waited to press MP once, it NEVER combo'd - I would always have to press MP 2 or 3 times after the jumping HP before it would work. Any explanation would be nice... And on other modes, my combos would, once out of every 3 times, not work and do some other move instead, sometimes to my benefit and sometimes not. Am I supposed to be able to input tiger knee crush perfectly into the controller and at lightning speed exactly 0.3 seconds after a crouching LK? How does this work? Maybe it's just the controller, but then again, I'm using the recommended one other than the arcade fightstick. It's mostly the same situation for the other characters. Can anyone spare some tips on how to physically execute combos using a controller?

[QUOTE="shel-mar"]I'm remembering an old mac game I played in the late 90s, but I can't remember the name! The curiosity is killing me! It would be great if anyone else could remember what I'm talking about. The game started in an eerie theme park. When you start you have to shoot at these three head things. The head you shot the most was the character you chose...or something...it's a bit hazy. Next you go on an island. You were trying to get off and you solve various puzzles while exploring. You were for some reason trying to collect ingredients to put in a big cauldron. I remember a few of the puzzles as well. One of the puzzles involved switching tires from pole to pole to complete it. Another was helping out some guy trapped in one of those wooden medieval punishment casques/yokes (I forget the name). Another had something to do with a stained glass door, and trying to fit together the pieces. The last one I remember had to do with navigating through a room with lasers shooting everywhere. I remember screwing up the puzzle ending up with the building exploding. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?UltimateGamer95
