Shame I won't be playing both, loved the Tomb Raider reboot. Now Sony and Microsoft are just fighting each other by buying multiplatform franchises. Who gains? It sucks. Oh well, at least it gets us new installments because the devs receive the money they need to make the game good.
Agreed and was thinking the exact same thing, but sadly I don't have that amount of self control. I'll probably watch every snippet of media before it comes out and still be surprised ;-) as was the case with Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3 and The Last of Us. Maybe they'll introduce some new things to the series from The Last of Us, like crafting. Would fit the series nicely no?
I think the combat is fluid and not on rails. The grappling hook takedown was a choice, as was the sliding part. I think if you have played The Last of Us you'll get an idea of what they're aiming for.
Then you haven't been paying attention. The combat is very different and resembles the combat in The Last of Us, thus making it less linear and more engaging. The enemies look more intelligent, they investigate the area and flank you. In previous installments you HAD to clear the area to progress, but now you can choose to be stealthy and not to kill all enemies. Also notice how Nathan picks up a tool and than uses it to progress in the level. Maybe you'll get more tools as the game progresses, which changes the gameplay and hopefully makes things fresh every once in a while (legend of Zelda style). Very, very exciting.
