I'm trying to come up with a cheaper build to play diablo and gw2 running at a moderate quality. An IT store in town said they could build this setup for $612. What are your thoughts and do you think it will perform decently on these games. Windows 7 Home Premium 4 GB of RAM 500 GB hard drive DVD-R/W drive 2560 x 1600 resolution AMD Athlon II X3 3.3 GHz processor Radeon HD 6670 video card All in a new case powered by a 480 watt power supply I haven't really considered trying to build one myself at this point due to lack of time and knowledge on this whole subject. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! Jamiethejamiep

nonononono.

with that size monitor, even older games will be slowed to a crawl on your athlon II and 6670. and the psu isnt enough either.

you need something much more balanced. and i would never build a pc with the idea to play something on medium. you will have to throw everything away in 6 months at best. It is not an effecient use of money. the MINIMUM you should get, is

i3/i5

550w

gtx460-560 or amd equivelent

a mobo which supports sata 3 and ddr3

a 1920x1080 monitor or even 1680x1050 would be better considering the hardware your using to run the games.

make another thread and tell people how much money you have to spend, and to suggest for you a list of parts to buy and build yourself.

5400 is awful. 7200 will destroy it, and a new ssd will destroy a 7200. where a 5400 drive takes 20 seconds to load something, the ssd will take about 1.

its pointless having a good processor which could load things quickly, and have it horribly slowed down as it waits for the mechanical hard drive to fetch data for it. your pc is only as fast as its slowest part, so 5400 is a bad idea. have it as a secondary drive and spend £50 on a small new ssd for windows and a couple of main games you play.

my £25 g400 pulls up to 1300hz on the program. average score is around 1000. i seem to remember if i were to install the drivers there are settings to lower it, and 1000 was the max setting. i dont understand why it is reporting over 1000, but it is.

mx518 without drivers is getting 125hz. constant 124-125hz. no fluctuation.

i dont understand why anyone would play metro 2033 in dx11. there is absolutely no difference except the 50% loss in fps. dx11 is a scam. microsoft is a scam.

if you have extra cash to blow... otherwise no. Who cares about Windows loading time? Game loading time is overrated. It's maybe 10% increase tops. Applications are better.

Not worth it at current prices.

yah it is. its about the experience. its not just waiting for windows to load. everything is instant. and whenever you do techinical stuff on your pc and need to restart many times, its very nice.

I just picked it up and installed it.

I did a quick windows test and it graded my cpu and when it did I saw one core go as high as 65c. I did a search but got so many different answers I thought I would just come here and get your opinion.

if its too hot youll know because your pc will shut itself down to save it from dying.

if it doesnt do that and you dont get problems playing games, then its fine.

I paid 30 Euros, had no money for a better stuff. I dont even live in that country no more so I could go back to the store. So, I have no money for upgrading, is there anything else I can do? Upgrading is the only thing I can do? matifls

well, atleast you didnt actually get ripped off, and you can probably recover atleast 70% of your outlay by selling it on ebay. if your going to spend £30 on a graphics card, get something old and used that used to be good. like maybe you can get a used gtx260 for around that amuont.
