Very interesting article about Nintendo needing to listen to their audience again.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/118/1180293p1.html

I agree with the article, Nintendo needs to listen.

I just feel like they don't want to produce any really solid ideas for games. I mean hell, look at Rare. They got bought out, but before, they were putting out good franchises! Goldeneye, Banjo Kazooie, and so on. You can't say it was them alone that made things happen. Nintendo used to play a role. Now they're all talk. Whatever happened to the Miyamoto who went ahead to go and say "OH, NINTENDO could make a halo ****game if we wanted"???

Completely agree

Nintendo is just trying to pull the wool over core gamers eyes with 3rd party ports of current gen games. And the amount of WiiU defenders here on gamespot really worries me. Their tricks won't work on me.

No way will I splash out on this console that is only a fraction more powerful that what i already own (360, PS3) to play games that I can already play (on 360 and PS3) with added dual screen gimmicks but at the expense of putting up with a crap controller and a no doubt sub-par online service. I wish the Nintendo fanboy would see the same sense I do.

RR360DD

I see what your saying, but realistically, Nintendo has been quite late in the modernization area this past few systems. While they put out some decent (as in on-par for a bit) software for GC (yet no real online access), as well as Wii (along with a few piles of shovelware to go along, and an online system that could use some re-framing), they still have been behind on the current agenda of "what gamers want". I swear to god, I think if nobody stopped them they might actually go back to cartridges for HOME consoles, not even mobile ones.

What do I want? Old school hardcore stuff like Perfect Dark and Conker's bad fur day, not a new mario party. i mean realistically, who the hell ACTUALLY takes those types of games seriously? You'd have to be out of your mind to do so..

As far as the hardware, who really KNOWS if its gonna be crap? It could work alright. Nobody really knows. Personally if they go with their silly-ass plan of "one wiiU controller per system" I'm all for pulling out a ****c controller and remote. Doesn't really make a difference to me if I'm actually seeing that they are putting out better software. Or hey, maybe actually make a controller WITHOUT the silly screen? Honestly I'm just waiting to hear the answers. Why didn't I go along with a PS3 or xbox360? Neither of them really sold me on anything other than graphics.

Not many games support more than 2 player local splitscreen. Why is this? It's a ton of fun to play in the same room as friends, and, honestly, it would help improve enjoyment of certain games. For instance, Left 4 Dead. 2 player slit screen is good fun, but imagine how awesome it would be to have 4 player split screen?

Discuss.

Its around, its just a dying breed these days.

I went back to community college a while ago (after being bored of being totally out of school wtih a BA and just in a job) and took a look at the "gaming" group, which had developed some time after I originally graduated with their video-game design major. Anyways, I digress.

The top games I saw being played were the following:

Halo: Reach

Smash Bros

Mario Kart.

So I guess the answer is, if you still like local multiplayer, nintendo's your go-to guy.

jer_1

and THATS why one's called DX9 and one's called DX11. Don't figure it might be a version advance, do you??

everyone said it maxed early with Gears 1. Well, now we're seeing things on the 360 that most thought was not possible, that is games that actually look better than PS3 exclusives.

With games such as Crysis 2, Tomb Raider, Gears 3, Rage and Forza 4 we can now say, DAMN this system has the hidden powa!

I'll be buying because I trusted Wii when I had my own reservations about motion control, and Wii U sounds totally turned into a great direction! I mean, SURE, you can just have ONE controller (so far) per system, but lets look at a few facts. One, it really is replacing a TV. So theoretically someone could sit NEXT to you and play a game along with you (say.......new super mario bros wii!) and you could enjoy it. Two, even if the one control per console thing has peeved you, look at it this way. If you have a friend that also has a Wii U, thats TWO Wii U's and TWO screen controllers. As in you could party at eachother's cribs and use the up to two controller support (which is still pending).

The horsepower that they're putting behind the system graphically looks better. I think we can all expect some great games like there were in the gamecube/n64 days (which back when I was between gamecube and xbox, gc ROCKED everything I saw in original xbox once I actually took a look at what was out there for wii. Sure they may have been missing stuff like GTA or whatnot, but hey, doesn't mean it will never happen. Anyways, thats my take on it.

I see alot of hate for twilight Princess. Alot of people say it's awful. Why? It was a zelda game with a darker atmosphere (although not the darksest. That goes to Majora's Mask.) It really is a great game. So why do people hate it like they do?

turtlethetaffer

I really disliked the game because the entire shape-shift element went ON AND ON AND ON. Everything felt really drawn out, there were basically zero great aspects of village like there had been in Ocarina or Wind Waker, and the different realms thing just felt like a rehashed link to the past. In short, it was nothing new and all sorts of "I've played this before" feelings.

[QUOTE="funsohng"][QUOTE="scorpionldr"]so how fast does 80 gigs go (in terms of how you spend if your a conservative user)? I'm pretty conservative (interesting word) about downloading stuff, and I'd probably only be buying a few games to start off with assuming you are asking "how long does it last", it all depends one your luck + how you took care of it. but since you are not using it that much, I assumer it won't rouble you much. Oh but, I heard it's good to run few games once in a while so you lens stays in good shape. if you don't use your lens too much, it might go dead. (or that's what I heard) does ps3 have a lot of heating issues? i keep hearing how hot ps3 slim gets running, and ps3 regular is kind of the same. I wanna run HDMI all the while I play (as i'm using my family's tv) and i'm hearing the slim is burning its' hdmi outlets out. keep it somewhere open, with nothing within 6 inches from the console. AKA, dont keep it in the cabinet. are there any big issues with the online system? is it fast, slow, is it minimum or does it have a lot of choices, etc. I have crappy internet provider, but I played KZ2 and BF:BC online without a lag, so it's good, if that's what you are asking. sorry, i usually never play online. are the touch sensative buttons a pain on the ps3 fat? it looked cool at first, but it doesnt feel right for sure. however, it's not much of a pain once you get used to it. is the fan too loud? mine's pretty quite. there are some cases where it makes buzz noise and gray lines going up the screen, but that can be fixed. Is the system "long?" I wanna make sure I'm giving a good fit for my shelf (which is kind of narrow) it's best not to put the console in the shelf, unless you are just putting it there when not playing and storing it. that being said, the phat one is pretty long, twice the size of wii from top to bottom. Any other questions I should be asking? lol. I'm real interested in making sure i ask all the right questions hmm... well, b/c thing hopefully you know... and i think that's about it. have fun playing it

well I'm probably planning to be doing like two hours after work every night, maybe three if the games good. lol. the space i'm planning on putting it in basically is 6 inches from top to bottum, 12 "deep" and 14 or so long....this isn't good? I mean, it's a pretty open space, not in a door space or anything, just its not the widest. besides, doesnt the system suck air from the sides and push it out the back (i'm gonna be keeping it horizontal) so the touch sensative buttons are a little wierd? can you remote start the system? also theres a power switch in the back, isn't there? twice the size of wii?? lol i keep that lying horizontally, so two inches, right?? or is it like a foot long?

ok, so i'm still making the decision between fat and slim, but i'm trying to get things cleared out here before i buy up.

I'm looking for a game that'll work well for 2-4 player offline action (like having a few friends over in the same room). Any ideas? I'm seeing a ton of good single player games and online multiplayer games, but it's kind of a bummer I can't just game with a few friends around on the same console.
