Ah really? nevermind then - I just thought you might earn something for doing all of that. Still, I kind of had to in a way as I'm hoping to get 100% mission completion first time around so I didn't want to miss anything. (anyone know if you mission progress carries over to newgame+ ?)

Mr_Tonylope; where are you stuck? perhaps I can help? the 'missable faq' available on gamefaqs helped me a great deal.

Now, as much as I appreciate the superb graphics of this game and think that the character animation is flawless, I recently spent around about an hour running backwards and forward from sector 8 to sector 5. I'm a huge lover of this game so don't think I'm knocking it - but I think they crammed the aerith/wagon in too close to the point of no return.

I mean, to complete this short quest you have to build 3 wagons right? and you can only get some of the parts in order right? for example, the guy in loveless avenue with the tires won't give you them until you've spoken to the kid and then that triggers something else etc etc. If they'd spread this out over a few chapters and given you this 'freedom' a little earlier it would've been fun to mix things up and could have served as a useful game mechanic for letting you explore. I found myself running.... just running.... for about an hour before Nibelheim. Phew!

Anyhoo, my question is thus; after doing all of that running and building and consulting the odd FAQ, I spoke to Aerith and she basically said, "yeah, that's lovely. cheers". and that was that. I was wondering if there is any kind of reward or bonus for completed this 'side quest'. anyone?

Ah, okay. Thanks Kimbo, sorry I misunderstood you there. I tried reverting the settings back to default but nothing! It's not really a problem - my psp is still fully functional. I just think it's odd that the update didn't work for me! ah well, it'll be interesting to know how the update goes for some of you guys...

isn't that basically just a downgrade? I didn't think that was possible (not legally anyways...and we shouldn't really discuss it). I don't think there's anyway way of just resetting the psp back to it's factory firmware.

that's bizarre. I've always gone with the latest firmwares as they come out and everything has always been fine. Thing is, I can't really reinstall the firmware can I? if I try to it says I don't need to... darn. perhaps I'll have to wait for another firmware update then it may fix itself

yeah, it must only be a matter of time right guys? I mean - it's not the greatest reason or motivation but the profit alone should be jerking them into action. I dunno... I think something fishy is going on for them to be neglecting the psone store for this long. Perhaps something big is being planned? Until then I'll continue with crisis core and hope for a few more good releases this year...

So this morning sony went live with their 5.50 firmware update which supposedly had some cool new fixes and features. I happily downloaded and installed the update and everything seems to have been a success. There's added browsing security - the new subfolder options and game web searches from the XMB are pretty neat. I do have a problem though;

when I go accross to the notice board under the online store and hit 'X' it just opens to browser and goes to a 'your psp system software is not up to date' page, and that's it. I click the link to initiate the proposed update but then it says 'your psp has the latest firmware installed'.

so basically, it doesn't work. lol. anyone else had this issue? is it something to do with me having a PHAT psp? I like my phatty. the others are too flimsy. lol.

I also have hope - I mean, why not? if they can release on psn japan then it's obviously do-able. Think of the money they could make! I heard it's going for three times the cost of a regular psone game in japan (i.e: around a tenner). I'd pay that in a flash and I know many more people who would also. It's got to happen...
