Was GameSpot UK not around when Sony said they would use software emulation eventually?

I can't wait....I will buy it at launch if I can get a hold of one. If not, I'll just keep checking stores until they have one in stock.

" markbart0305 markbart0305 I hope you guys realize that PS3 games will not be in 1080p, at least not launch games. Plus, if you buy the $500 version, you can't even have true HD with it, making the Blu-Ray player within it useless. I like the HD-DVD add-on that Microsoft has because it offers gamers a choice. Do I want to watch movies with true HD or no? Sony, on the other hand, is forcing it upon gamers. Most gamers out there don't even have a HD-TV, and some older models of HD-TV's don't have an HDMI output. All in all, not many people will be playing movies on the PS3 in true HD. I don't even think much of the consumer public knows what true HD is." Most people didn't have DVD players when they first came out. Would you say it was not needed now? I am sure you would pick DVD over VHS....so why is blu-ray any different? Blu-ray is a better format. Most people don't have HDTV's eh? You know what that means? They will later on. We are in the transition age. People are switching. It only makes sense to release a console that is ready for the future. You are only trying to convert people that are not sure. If you are satisfied with the 360, why do you feel the need prove your console? Consumers do know about HD. Where are you getting your information from? People can get tube HDTV's that don't cost a fortune.

babowe - I am not even going to read what you just said. I just read the first sentence and stopped. You are not making any sense.

"Well, pretty much every console has bugs at launch, most likely even your precious PS3. It's just the way it goes, if you want to avoid this you'll want to wait until the second or third wave of consoles." I understand that otherwise I wouldn't be here arguing that point. More people put down Sony for that, not Microsoft. That's the main reason you see me defending Sony. I know all systems have faulty units, even the PS3 is going to have some. The people I am arguing with don't understand that or they do but don't want to acknowledge it because all they are trying to do is make Sony look bad.

Quote: "Yes the PS3 is to much. I have a 360, well my son has a 360. We both play it, and love it. I dont make a ton of cash. I dont see how some one a lay down the cash for a PS3, I dont care about Blue Ray. I dont play DVD's on my 360. I have a DVD player for that. Here You have a Full 512 bit, VS A 256, Yes I know it can pull out some more 256, But how did that work out for fx 16, or Sega's 32 bit. I also like like the fact that the Xbox is more U.S. made, then a PS1,2, and 3. Sony is one reson that the U.S. is work force sucks. Buy U.S.A made." Response: Do you think it would make sense for Sony to disable movie playback when the drive can do both? That is non-sense. The blu-ray drive on the PS3 will be used. It's being put in the system because it is going to be the default format for gaming. I would rather have the PS3 with the drive than without. I want developers to have more space. Earlier games might not use that space but games down the road will make use of it. People who already own DVD movies won't have to buy their collection again. PS3 can play DVD movies just like HD-DVD players can. Microsoft should have put the HD-DVD drive inside....I would have liked the 360 to provide more space for games.

"Sainraja, you compare the PS2 to the Xbox 360. Remember how the PS2 was the leader during this now-dying console generation?" The focus of my post was not the 360. When the Xbox came out it had problems of its own. Anyone remember the Thompson drive incident? I was using 360 because I have followed it's release. I don't know a lot about Xbox. I don't even know when it was released. After someone mentioned that Xbox had problems with the drive inside I looked it up. I was trying to show that PS2 is not the only console which has had problems.

babowe - what I said was directed at you. I just made the mistake of putting hunt's name instead of yours. All those topics were from the Xbox forum. They all have had a 360. Main point of my post was to show the 360 scenario is no different than the PS2 one. Every system has had faulty units....even your beloved 360. When it comes to the PS2 people are actually having problems but when it happens to the 360 it could be Microsoft haters? Sony does not have haters? See, how you twist and turn things around to prove your point? That is exactly what I was trying to show you.

Element - You can say all you want that your post had nothing to do with the 360 and I'll even give you that. In response to your post about people with bills to pay I said people who have that many bills to pay won't be buying a games console because obviously they have better things to worry about. They won't be the ones deciding which system is going to succeed. 360 is not incredibly cheaper than the PS3 which is why I brought it up. It is the alternative to the PS3. Wii is not being marketed as a competitor to either the 360 or the PS3 which is why I didn't bring it up. Wasn't the point of your original post saying PS3 is to expensive for people with bills to pay? My response says they won't be thinking of a system, but if they want one, they will get one. 20mintues further proved my point.

"And as for the debate about how the Xbox 360's HDDVD attachment will add to the $400 and come out to around the price of the PS3: you'll realize this is not a necessary amount of extra money, whereas with the PS3 you have no choice but to pay $600 unless you want the comparatively useless $500 Core System. And don't forget, third party 360 games cost $60, while it is likely that every PS3 game, including first party titles, will cost at least $60, some specualations even see it reaching over $80, maybe even 100 (though this seems unlikely)." Above is quote. LinkRememberd you have to consider the PS3 core because the core itself can compete with the 360 premium. PS3 core can't be compared with 360 core. I am not sure why you are disregarding blu-ray. It is needed and will be used for gaming. The space blu-ray has might not get used right away but it will be used. I would say this even if blu-ray was not developed by Sony. PS3 games prices have not been released. You are going by speculation.
