Laura Parker was speaking of McCartney and Ringo as if they had actual say with what happens to the Beatles catalog, but isn't a portion of the catalogue owned by Northern Songs, Ltd. (or is it Apple Corp?) and another by Michael Jackson Enterprises (or whatever it's called)? I can't claim to have kept up on this much over the years and perhaps McCartney has since acquired a portion of the catalogue to be able to say what direction things go, but I've always understood that the Beatles themselves did not have rights to their own songs (outside of performing them live). It was Michael Jackson who outbid McCartney and Yoko Ono for about 200 or so Beatles' songs in the 80's, wasn't it?
