Its always down to profit and demand for a product so i believe that old school survival horror and stealth games (original resident evil, silent hill 1 and 2 for SH genre and thief, splinter cells before conviction and some meatal gears for stealth) have died based on what ubisoft did to splinter cell conviction. If it has a hint of a story and involves thinking your way through a level instead of shooting, the kids think your making them do homework and wont play it , and kids now make up the biggest part of the market.
