Remember when Max Payne was reviewed down for being too short cause it was like 8 hours or something. Funny how that is the norm now and people don't complain about game length anymore. Tixylixx

I played it on the PS2 first time, so it had autosaves fairly spaced apart; that made it last longer. Max Payne does have several difficulty levels though and the NYM mode, so it's not the longest game ever, but there is replay value. Todays games tend to have less of that and they're easier, for example regenerative healing etc.

NICE! Im currentlyplaying though max payne again. Im suprised how hard it is compared to 2. I die alot!pure_perv

Yeah, it's definitely much harder. Max Payne 2 has already been run, but I'm not really interested in running it, 1 is much more of a challenge.

I said you did very well cheating or not and i believe you weren't cheating after all. You just know the game inside and out and you take advantage. Going through the game that fast skipping all the awesome cut scenes all the amazing dialogue wow man i bet you heard it all a thousand times and to me it never gets old imo, the best dialogue comes at the end. "They were all dead. The final gunshot was an exclamation mark on everything that had led to this point. I released my finger from the trigger, and it was over." The guy that does Max Payne's voice "James McCaffrey" is perfect for narrating a story. Max Payne is f*cking classic in your face with none of the **** effects of today's 3rd person games, no motion blur to skew the action no bloom to blind you from the action. It's the best Third person shooter ever made and i hope Rockstar gets it right with the newest installment. Cheers. Travis_Odell

My replies a bit late but whatever. Yeah I love the story for the game as well, but that's for casual play; I left the ending in anyway :P.

Also some news, several of the original Remedy staff have seen the run and liked it so much they sent me some free stuff! Just a T-shirt, notepad etc. but the fact they sent anything is great. Yet more proof they like seeing the game being pushed to the limits. I for one am accepting this as the final blow to the whole "that's not what the developers intended" argument that Speedruns get so much.

Also I personally think Max Payne 3 will be really good, despite the insane 35gb required for install; I'm assuming there're going to be loads of HQ picture textures again. Multiplayer looks like a blast as well, I guess we will know soon enough anyway.

Good job to you then. I do know you can easy edit the guns Ras file and make guns way over powered, just saying lol.Travis_Odell

You can't honestly think I'd go to the effort of doing a run like this only to cheat something like the difficulty level? I assume you're also not serious about your suggestion that the weapons are over powered, hence not pointing out any obvious parts in the run. Feel free to assume it's cheated, but I guarantee you won't find any evidence that it is, hence the only arguments being oh well you could have done this, without any evidence to back it up.

Why would you speed run through a game that relies so heavily on soaking up the atmosphere? I can't imagine playing that game without doing so. I think speed runs should be left to the platformers....Starshine_M2A2

Yeah well I soaked up the atmosphere with the first 20 playthroughs. The developers themselves specifically created a difficulty which is for Speedrunning (New York Minute), so the developers at least would argue otherwise.

That's on easy LOL wtf man? Ive beat this game on hard and it's impossible to run and gun like you do in the sh!t storm especially in the later levels. what a fu!king quack. I had faith in you and your a internet liar.Travis_Odell

It's on the hardest. This is obvious due to the damage I take (especially from pistols), the bullet time I'm awarded for killing and the fact I get to the secret bonus level at the end. You'd be surprised what you can get away with if you plan carefully. Enemies aren't more accurate on the harder difficulties really, just a lot tougher (and you're much weaker). It's a shame you had to jump to such conclusions based on....nothing. All the evidence this is on the hardest difficulty is there, because it IS.

Kind of off-topic, but how do you get to upload such a long video to youtube? It only lets me 10min max.

Some accounts are enabled for longer uploads, not sure what the limit is. I'm also not sure exactly what the selection criteria is, just make sure you don't have copyright claims etc. It may be to do with a minimum no. of subs and/or views.

For those asking why, because it's fun! It's also less addictive than most online multiplayer games, so while it might take ages in the long run, it's less of a time sap day to day. In the end though it's very rewarding to find glitches and find ways to break games and beat them fast. There's a whole community who speedrun games, some of you might have heard of the more popular ones like half life 2 done quick. If any of you are interested in more runs, see speeddemosarchive.

I've finally managed to beat the game in a single-segment (no reloads or saves) in 56:41, beating my old record by almost 4.5 minutes, enjoy!

Max Payne 1 beaten in under an hour on the hardest difficulty with no deaths and in a single-segment (no reloads).

Final time is 56:41, beating my old record by almost 4.5 minutes. So, if you fancy seeing a speedy play through of the game then enjoy!

Nice job, but I imagine this is exceedingly frustrating to do. I wouldn't find any fun in this.MythPro1

You're right it's very frustrating, but there is some fun in it (finding short cuts, nailing segments). Not a run I wish to do again though!

I remember your previous thread about this. Good job! There seems to be a lot less rolling this time around. lol flipin_jackass

Yeah, this run was done going for best real time, so rolling is almost always slower.
