This topic is super old but I'm just posting a new message to let everyone know that the issue has been resolved. I have had no problems for over a year. If I start having new problems with PSN in UAE I'll probably make a new topic thread. If your still having problems please look back into the earlier pages for more information, search google for other threads, or contact customer support.

Oh yeah I think the etisalat helpline is 101 or some number like that I don't really remember. If you need the Sony UAE helpline you can probably find the number in your PS3 box (that's where I found it) or in the playstation site or you can contach Jumbo electronics cause I think they handle Sony technical stuff. Or you can even ask the store you bought your console in.

It seems that this thread is viewable on google. I even tried it and searched for my problem again and this thread is the first on the search page. So that people would stop e-mailing me I'll give a short guide on how to fix their problem. Oh right now PSN is working fine and if it's not working for you it's not a problem with Etisalat or anything it's probably a problem with your internet or something.

OK first you need to go to portforwarding.com and learn how to access your router, set up a static IP Address, andforward ports.

From portforwarding.com you'll learn about static IP Addresses and putting in the subnet mask, default gateways, andDNS servers. Once you take note of all these and have made/chosen a static IP Address for your PS3 you should go to your PS3 and edit the internet setings there too. For an Example the static IP Address on my PS3 is 192.168.1.100 on my 360 it's192.168.1.66, and on my other PC it's 192.168.1.65.

You'll learn how to access your router and to do that you have to use your internet browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox or whatever you use) and the way to get there is usually 192.168.1.1 and the username is usually admin and the password is usually admin. From there you should go to Applications and Gaming and then to Single Port forwarding or Port Range forwading. Here's a preview.

Preview of router access

Here's how it should look like: (note that it even has other applications and gaming ports in there and when putting in the port figures ignore Azurl and XboxLive stuff)

Ports

Or you can make it easier and just edit the DMZ and put your PS3's static IP Address there:

DMZ stuff

One person e-mailed me and said that they already forwarded all the ports and stuff but still didn't work. But then they e-mailed me again and said that the problem was fixed because in the router settings the security settings were changed. It should look like this:

Oh finally I got it to work! How about you other guys is it finally working for you? What I did was change the IP Address on my PS3 from 68 to 100. Then I went to my router on the PC and forwarded my ports and DMZ from 68 to 100. Then I did the whole power cycle thing. Then viola it works. Thanks you guys for being helpful and I hope that your problems will be solved too and I hope this lasts longer then the last time.

OK I tried connecting to my own account still doesn't work, I tried using JCblueside's US account no dice, and then I tried signing up to make a new account NOPE! When I triedmaking the new account it still gave me that errorcode and told me that it couldn't connect to the server.

Oh anyone out there with a du account who has no problems with PSN cause after all this trouble I'll switch to du.

Sorry guys for not responding and stuff. And oh I haven't tried any of those things yet cause I was enjoying my Christmas holiday so much that I really didn't care anymore. But now I'll try all that stuff you suggested and see if it works. Oh yeah someone did ask whether I was using Wireless or not and the answer is that I use a wired connection (please don't take that bold lettering as an insult) and I did read the 7 Days article but I didn't read it from the paper I read it at the 7days site http://7days.ae/showstory.php?id=64514 . However I do take issue that the guy thought that I was bashing Sony for this problem. I did kinda comment on that it was free but I didn't mention in that that Wii store is free and that works fine too. Anyway if you want to read more about my letter come to my blog.

Oh yeah, jcblueside gave me his US account and I tried it like a week ago and it didn't work. Maybe I'll try it soon like I said I was too caught up in the holiday season.

I hate Etisalat, I'm glad that I dont live there anymore cause I bet I'll be experiencing the same problem as everyone else.JCblueside

When you lived here you were using the same router as me and you couldn't play Resistance online but you could still access PlayStation Network. Hey I'm considering changing to du what site can I check out for the prices?

We need to make sure Etisalat and Sony own up to this problem and get it fixed, there's going to be a whole heap of upset kids on Christmas morning when they find out they can't donwload SFA off the playstation network.

rayjapan

I think the main problem with the PSN is because Etisalat sucks(maybe I should get du)and that the servers must be down because of the holiday playing frenzy and that most of the resources are diverted to other countries like US, UK, Japan Singapore etc.

Hi,

Perhaps I'm just not understanding the problem, but why does a network problem with the PSN have anything to do with Sony? As much as we'd like to blame Sony, I find it hard to believe that when they receive a packet of data, their PSN servers look at it and say, "Oh, this is from the USA...let's respond fast!" or "Oh, this is from the UAE, let's wait 10 seconds and then send a response." I suppose a server could be written that way, but I find it hard to believe that anyone would go through this trouble.

I presume PSN has multiple servers and some are in Japan, some in the USA, etc. It is possible that your closest server might be overloaded...but hopefully Sony has enough sense to upgrade such servers soon.

I would think it is most likely your internet provider? Why don't you try something like http://www.speedtest.net/ (using your computer and not your PS3...but it probably doesn't matter) to see how your internet compares with others? This would be a test that takes the PS3 out of the equation...

I tested it at the site you said and it said that download speed is 968 kbps and upload 241 kbps. And most likely it ismy internet provider that sucks. Can you believe this Etisalat (my ISP) has the same IP Address for all of their users. So if let's say Sony blocks that IP Address because of some other idiots actions everyone on Etisalat gets blocked too. Stupid ISPeh?

You're far from alone on this problem!

I wish I could just like wait outside the shops or in the shops for the people who are planning to buy a PS3 and tell them not to buy it yet until they demand from Sony and Etisalat to fix the PSN. Maybe I should go out with a petition.
