Last Of Us... though Bioshock Infinite is VERY good.  It's like choosing between Jessica Alba or Jessica Biel.  Tough call.  GTA V will no doubt be good but it seems to be like all the previous GTA combined with a very pretty face...  and Ni No Kuni, while still very good...  still a traditional JRPG.

I just found out something else.. would this work instead of buying a new external drive??

Couldn't I just use an ethernet cable to transfer the old data to the new drive?  One of my friends fat PS3 YLOD on him and he told me he did this and it worked.  He "fixed" his PS3 via hair dryer, then just used an ethernet cable and transfered his old data to a new slim PS3.  Only problem is that he could not watch his downloaded movies(he had to call up Sony to deactivate the older PS3)... which I don't have any anyways.  I just want to keep my saves.

If you have to format it to fat32, then 'yes' you will (reformat = lost data). Can you transfer the data that is on the external drive to your PC?rawsavon

No, sadly my PC's drive is smaller than my external drive... and the PC's drive is almost full anyway.  So, this basically means I have to buy a new external drive, along with a new slim 500gb PS3 and fix my broken fat PS3.  Damn you Sony... well, at least I didn't have to go through three xbox 360s... LOL.

so do the temporary fix, format the external drive to fat32 (you can youtube how if it is not already), backup old ps3, get new ps3, do a restore with your backed up data rawsavon

But won't I lose the current data on my external drive?  There is a way to do format it without losing the current data on the external drive(because I need to keep that too)?

Not high enough level, but the thread is okay so I don't care. :P

On-topic: Probably not. I think that just like the PS3 and 360, they're going to get identical multiplats and that neither console will have enough amazing exclusives to make me want to get both; especially since they're both going to charge for online play.

Thanks for that.  I've been playing videogames since the early 90s... River City Ransom to Streets of Rage, from Maniac Mansion to Deja Vu to Adventure Island to Pit Fighter, Arch Rivals to Street Fighter 2, to Shinobi to Golden Axe,  Final Fantasy to Shining Force, Phantasy Star to Dragon Warrior, Zelda to Rad Racer, Ridge Racer to Daytona 500, NFL 95 to NBA Jam, Resident Evil and Silent Hill...  I don't discriminate when it comes to games... I still think exclusives are worth it to me.  I loved Gran Turismo when it debuted on the PS1... but now I like the Forza series A LOT more... I play more Forza 4 and Horizon than GT5... heck, I'm more excited for Forza 5 than GT 6...  but ubisoft's The Crew looks like something that would tie me down for months.

I would love for 360 owners to expericence Heavy Rain and Last of Us... I would love for  PS3 owners to experience Fable and Alan Wake.  Having both systems means I get to enjoy it all.  Of course, PC owners have their League of Legends and Counter Strike, and World of Warcraft(which I was hooked on for two years straight... I would stay up till 4-5 in the morning on that with my capped out warrior at the time running raids and instances...)  Hahaha... funtimes, but I don't see myself going back to it.  Maybe when a WOW 2 rolls around... hehehe

Initially I bought an Xbox 360 for Gears of War and Dead Rising in 2006.  I then bought the PS3 for Metal Gear Solid 4 in 2008(been a big fan of Metal Gear since Solid on the PS1... sadly I have yet to play the NES versions).  So I can say I have both consoles.  Each have their own strengths and weaknesses(and exclusives...  how I learned to love the Gears of War series(Dom and Maria!!!  Sob)and the Fable trilogy; never had the original xbox so I never experienced the original on its release... and Naughty Dog and their Uncharted Series to The Last of Us(what an experience that game was to the God of War and Little Big Planet and Heavy Rain)....

I have a feeling I will eventually have both systems...  but this time I think I will buy a PS4 before the Xbox 1, though Titanfall looks amazing.  How many of you will eventually have both systems in your homes?  Or are you a microsoft or sony only person?  My PC is running a 560ti and a 3.20ghz I7 and I have no plans on upgrading it in the next few years... I barely play PC games nowadays... though the Battlefield series will always be a PC only purchase for me.  I'm pretty sure Battlefield 4 will run fine on my pc.

so, couple days ago my ps3 YLOD on me.... with the Walking Dead disc stuck inside(thank goodness I finished 400 Days before it happened).  What I want to know is...  can I save my hd data?  I plan on buying a new slim PS3... I have the fat Metal Gear PS3 which is backwards compatible but it was getting really loud(watching blu rays was annoying) and polygon stretching was starting to show(especially in Tomb Raider, Nino Kuni, and 400 Days).  I also have a lot of good saves on there, from Metal Gear Solid to GT5 to Nino Kuni(still need to finish it) to Last of Us.  Could I have the fat PS3 repaired(percentage of possibility?), then transfering the data to a semi full external HD... I did this before but the HD was brannd new and unformatted(upgraded from the standard 80gb to a 120gb drive).  Can I move my ps3 data to a 1 terabyte external HD that is already partially full?  Or do I need to buy a brand new unformatted HD?  I was thinking of doing this, then buying the 500gb PS3 slim and transfering the data to that.  I don't have an issue with getting a new PS3(as it will be quieter, though I will lose the backwards compatibility... and I sold my PS2 slim last Christmas... still have tons of PS2 games though).  Is it possible to repair my YLOD PS3 and transfer the data to a partially filled external HD?   Or do I need to buy a new unformated external HD?  From what I've read, there is no way to put my 120gb HD in the new slim PS3 without it wanting to reformat it, and losing all data.  And I would rather have 500gb than 120gb anyday.

those that say driving is boring in real life are obviously driving the wrong cars or on the wrong roads... I love taking my "fun" car out on the weekends and row through the gears and hit up some twisty roads, hit up the local auto cross/road course, or drive the gas powered go-karts at the nearest track. this is why I prefer sim games over street/arcade racers that are about big wings, flashy paintjobs, and speeding through pedestrian traffic.
