I really liked this little article. The personality of the gamespot reviewers is why I usually stick to here for my reviews and news and such. The whole transgender title doesn't mean anything to me though because if you're human than you're human. That's all that really matters. It's a shame that people still let petty things like race or gender divide us.

That's the problem with the internet: Some people will take a mile when they can say whatever they want with no accountability. I don't think everyone should be named for the whole internet to see, but the general douche behavior of the internet can be tiring. I actually agree with Hepler though. Leave the difficulty up to the gamer. If I don't want to slog through another bad fight, why force me when I can skip the story bits?

I'll agree with Mr. Mc Shea on this one. Some games are rough around the edges, but at least they have soul. The Stalker series have all been flawed masterpieces. They were rough around the edges, but at least they tried something new and different from the usual big dumb action games that populate the gaming market. Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines is another example of imperfect genius. That intro movie before the patch was horribly bad and the glitches were maddening and it still is one of my favorite role-playing experiences. Still, the whole point system isn't a thing I really like at all. The entire review just comes down to a number and people are hard-wired to look at anything below a 70 as a failing grade thanks to years spent in school.

I want to watch these but I don't want to spoil anything until I get my hands on Rage. Quite the conundrum.

One of my favorite things about Persona 3 and 4 was that a number of Personas were lifted straight from major religions--Hinduism, Christianity etc. (I'm not sure about the other Persona games as I've never played them). I don't know why but that always made me smile to have the Archangel Gabriel fighting alongside other deities was just cool. It was also a lot like that South Park where the Super Best Friends all join up to defeat a common foe. Granted, not much was done in the way of religious faith in the Persona games...sort of, but I'd be down for seeing more games based on Christian lore or any religious lore for that matter.

Site looks great and everything but my favorite thing is that this LarkAnderson has an avatar of Teddie from Persona 4. Love that game.

Damn fine article and I agree with you wholly. I just cannot comprehend why anyone would say that music in a game isn't essential. To me that's like saying that imagery in writing isn't important or music in movies is without merit, music is just another tool to further a scene, as you said. I've been replaying Thief Deadly Shadows and I'm at the House of the Widow Moira at the moment and the music most assuredly adds to the atmosphere, the haunting and rare piano bits just makes it all perfect. I will disagree with you on Fallout 3 though. It fit the whole retro-future aesthetic that Fallout as always had. Granted hearing big band music certainly didn't help when I reconnected with my father but small quibble when it added to the hilarity of blowing a super mutant up with a mini-nuke.

Duke Nukem 3D was one of my favorite games when I was a kid, I must've been six or something when I was blowing pig-cops away. I'm somewhat surprised how normal I turned out, satire is one of my favorite things though. Wonder if Mr. Nukem had anything to do with that.
