MODS CAN CHANGE THE TITLE IF THEY WISH.

Can anyone tell me whether the X,[_],O,/\ button marks on the original sony PS2 dualshock controller fade out after some time?
Or do they never fade out like our keyboard key marks?

How do I identify an original ps2 controller? I look at the following:

- SONY logo(along with the PS logo and the START and SELECT readings) - on fake ones, it looks crappy.
- the Analog sticks when pressed, are not firm in fake ones, but tend to go wayward and needs to be pressed hard
- the button marks fade in a month's time (but this can't be the parameter when you go for a purchase)
- the controller plug that fits into the controller port is quite bulky and the finish is not so good, apart from the fact that its a PITA to fit it in and more while pulling out, while the official one goes in sweetly, comes out the same way.
- Cable is quite thick on fake one
- Rotating the analogs on original ones is a real treat, while it's a struggle on the fake ones while playing games like RE4 where you have to rotate them as required.
- Button press sensitivity in racing games or MGS games, where pressing or moving analog lightly makes the character go slow, while on pressing hard, it moves fast

If any more. Please let me know.

In my country, you will find such fake controllers at 1/4 price of the official sony, and you won't be able to find the difference, its really tough. You only get to know, when they die out after 6 months or even less.

Thanks.

[QUOTE="MirrorSadness"]I just had a quick question. I just recently got my Playstation 2, and because of the way I have things set up, it got unplugged a few times already yesterday. About three times. Anyways I was playing games all three times, and I was just wondering if this could harm the system? I really do not want the system to blow up after only a few days of buying it. So I was wondering, can it harm the system to have it become unplugged while playing a game? By the way the plug was unplugged from the wall, not being unplugged from the back of the system. Thanks in advance for your answers, and I hope you can help me with my question. Also I was wondering if continually turning on and off the system is good for it? I usually play for around an hour, hour and a half, than turn of the system, put it in stand by mode. Than about fifteen minutes, to one hour later I would turn the system on again, and begin playing. I was just wondering if doing this so often would damage the system in anyway. I understand that the only way to turn off the system is to hold the power button for a few seconds, and it will enter stand by mode, so I am assuming that doing this does not harm the system, but doing it so often might. Thanks again for all of your answers in advance, I greatly appriciate them.

Actually I think its good that you give rest to your PS2. Even playing continuously won't harm it. Don't worry. About unplugging it from the wall directly. It prevents the lens from retracting to its normal position and so I think that's not good. So, in that case, you need to turn on the console again and turn the power on, so that it returns back to its normal position. And yes, you need to be careful while plugging out directly. Always first turn off the console using the Power On/Off button on the console, then unplug it from the wall jack. And you also need to keep in mind. It's A Sony! So don't worry, they know what people gamers are...lol...total crazy...so their product is prepared for everything. Tested Perfectly OK! Go Ahead and enjoy playing your PS2...Enjoy mate!

Was no one posting on the PS2 forum, that the GS mods had to take such a decision as getting rid of the entire forum?!

Just get a new one, it's not like they stopped selling them :PsiLVURcross
Sony are clever...they know PS2 is selling more than the PS3 in the present date too....and the developers won't stop making games for PS2...PS2 will live till 2011...it will complete it's 10 year legacy as declared by Sony when it was launched back in 2001...and game developers too have plans to launch games till 2011...I saw a list of upcoming games till 2011 on gamefaqs.

Sometimes, I feel like the PS2 > Current gen in some ways.HOMIE_G64
I just don't figure out how people have dumped legendary PS2 as a retro / legacy gaming console!!!! I love it and my PC is jealous...lol! Even though if in future I buy a PS3 or XBOX360, PS2 would never lose my attention...I guarantee...the greatest game title following that it has...I don't think any console can beat that today.

I really hope that at some time in the past, there used to be a full-fledged forum dedicated exclusively to the PlayStation 2. Is my feeling true? I regret being late on the scene. I feel like PS2 has been torn to pieces here with all it's leftovers being dumped into the legacy platform forums! Please can anyone take me into the Flashback?
