it takes massive balls to deliver the promise of a build-your-own-far-cry thingy in a world of dlc's..

dice said the frostbite engine was too complicated for users to create maps, wonder how much simpler the cryENGINE/ Dunia are to develop user content...

The base of the story is exactly the same as the one on dragon age 1, find army, find friends, fight the big bad guy in the end, it had some twists and turns, gets you to do things you never wanted to do, choices that made me stare at my screen for 10 minutes just asking myself what "should i do now, this is impossible to resolve", had tears in my eyes, it was good, it was emotional, it made the players suffer as Shepard does, and that made me hate the reapers even more than i did before, because of what they were doing to my "friends", because of what they were doing to "my" galaxy, in a nutshell, the main story was incredible, one of the best i've seen in a long time. What bothered me was the lack of closure in the end, the ambiguous end, it's not the cherry on top of the cake we wanted, not because of the ending itself, but because of the unanswered questions, like who created the reapers, when did they show up, why are they really doing this, and so on. In my opinion, i wouldn't care if Shepard and the whole crew went down in a massive BANG of reaper dust, as long as i was given some closure on the rest of the questions we have been asking, and filling all the internet with crazy theories. I don't see anything wrong with the ending other than the lack of answers, the ending is too open, this was supposed to be Shepard's last dance, and instead, it leaves room for EA to force bioware to push another dlc down my throat.

ME2 wasn't a bad game, quite the contrary, but it was a downgraded version of the original ME, it lost its origins, its identity, i mean the main quest was a fetch your mates quest, the side quests were all passed in the same warehouse, the characters were good, but there was something missing to get it to the same kind of greatness the original ME was. So the gaming community made its voice heard, we told bioware that we wanted the rpg component back on its track, and we asked them to jump off the gears of was bus, and back on the kotor train, and all they did for the final ME was drive the buss on the train tacks like a lunatic. Like DICE, bioware was forced to rely on DLC's to squeeze even more cash from the players, by launching a 10$ dlc in the same day the game was out, 10$ that i payed to have a 10 minutes quest and a new character that even being one of the best, in terms of lore, skills, presentation in the series is most definitively not worth 10$.

Laura, you approached mass effect as a work of art, and i shall do the same thing, the work of art here started with mass effect 1, all those years ago, a RPG with an action component, an impossible inventory system, and some parts, like the mako, that needed a little more polish, a little more depth added to them. other than that, the story was incredible (THE BEST in the series), characters were good, with Urdnot Wrex and Tali being the best of them, the combat system was great, with the typical pause from the kotor series, good shooting, despite the cover system not being the most intuitive compared to other 3rd person cover-to-cover shooters. That's where it started, the videogame community was impressed with that game, it was loved, it won awards like game of the year, it was undoubtedly a great game, what the media likes to call an instant classic. The problem started with ME2, EA got their hands on it, pushed bioware to make the game more marketable, more (and i hate this word) mainstream, so the rpg components were downgraded to a simple level system with some skills in it, and make the game get on the gears of war buss of massive shooting action and all the money that comes along with that.

@Montykenobi in the words of the wise arctic monkeys, that's where you're wrong, its not only about that, if sony had used their partnership with google, and developed with them a android based OS/UI for the vita (or completely relegate the job to them, like on the smartphones), it would expand the range of crap you can put in your console, adding games of the likes of angry birds, and cut the rope, and dictionary apps, translate, and so on, but they didn't, they chose a clunky, clumsy, dumb and quite ugly looking UI. and yes, the games are a technical achievement, no doubts, and there is a LOT of good things in there, but sony's close-minded way of business keeps the vita down. memory sticks are too damn expensive compared with micro sd price per gb (which you need to play ANY game), the data cable, the lack of more options of "time wasting" apps and so on takes its toll. it's not that the vita is bad, its just that the tiny imperfections take the upper hand. you can't die for being pinched with a needle, but if its a million of them, you can kiss your mamma bye bye.

if this really ends up coming out next year, my social life will be destroyed, between beating mass effect 3 a dozen times to see the endings, finding all the locations on TES skyrim, catching all the criminals in L.A. noire, and last but not least the old republic. i f@cking need to cut on my sleep.
