I'll prefer a gamepad 100% of the time with either fighters or racers. I have a grand total of one racer and zero fighters currently installed though. The only other time I might reach for my gamepad is the occasional arcade style game. I would sooner choke than switch to gamepad for shooters.
Edit - the first post mentions 3rd persons like PoP/AC. I never thought about it, I suppose I could manage with a gamepad for those, but I've never found reason to stray from the mouse for them. PoP is my favourite game series as well. To each his own, of course. It doesn't help that I've never owned a console that features gamepads so I've never had much time to get used to them.
I'm at uni now, so I've been out of high school almost 4 years. After high school finished I was still playing soccer with alot of my old buddies, so we kept in touch that way. I also play online with alot of them. We were all really close at high school and I had/have no intention of losing my friendships. Might even end up opening a clinic with one of them one day...
More than anything else, seeing how morally void some people are. Today I read about some moronic teenagers who set fire to a support centre for disabled children and their families, then proceeded to steal equipment from the firefighters trying to save it. Things like that make me lose faith in humanity quickly.
I can't stand talking to complete randoms in games. If its someone I've played with on more than a few occasions perhaps, but in general I don't bother. Last thing I want is to be berated over a game. Winning is lovely, but being routinely vicious because someone may have just started, or because they made a mistake doesn't help anything.
I've never let a game's score veto my selection. Often, if there's a feature or part in the game I'm curious or unsure about prior to buying a game I'll check the reviews and make a decision off that. Usually I know if I want a game before the review though.
