3D can be really REALLY cool. It can add a whole new experience to the game. Fallout 3 was awesome in 3D. The Left 4 Dead series is so much better in 3D I've converted people that hate the game. Simulators seem to get the best treatment followed by FPS and Sports games. None of them are 'made for 3d' thus far. As for it taking off... I hope that it does. 2D will surely be an option in 99% of the games for the rare person that can't view/handle 3D viewing. As for Glasses. I don't see them going away anytime in the next decade or more. There is NO way to do 3D sans glasses without an exponential cost increase. That said... 3D TV's will get cheaper. There is no reason WHY they have to be so expensive. Right now it's just the TV manufacturers trying to sell you the new wiz bang tech. You get used to the glasses, it's not that big of deal. I never thought I'd be willing to insert rubber prongs into my ear canals either, but guess what, I (and likely you) do it all the time.

The 3DS is just going to use lenticular lenses to create a pseudo 3D effect. I used one on an old CRT monitor 5 years ago. I personally think it's pretty good idea but also misleading. 1. This is not stereoscopic. It's not REAL 3D 2. It's not autoscopic Meaning REAL 3D without glasses. 3. It's not like the virtual boy AT ALL (Virtual boy had 2 separate LCD's for True Stereoscopic images. 4. Eye-Strain will be virtually non-existent because it's a lens trick. Not 3D. It might bother some people.
