Btw, has anyone else been having this problem with the gamespot servers taking spaces out of some of their words in their posts? It's getting kinda annoying.

[QUOTE="ColdfireTrilogy"]already been done and working pretty darn well its under the guise of pokemon online. Friends of mine say it plays very similar and plays well. I havent touched it as im all out of time but i do love pokemon games and take their word that its a good game.kaze347
Its actually pretty good. Hard to get on the server sometimes since its 500 people max but its pretty sweet when you do get to play lol I recommend checking it out.

Yea, I looked into that abouta year ago but never had a chance to try it out. I might have to if it's actually fairly good. I still think my idea would work and even though it would destroy the series as we know it, that fact wouldn't be enough to stop Nintendo from releasing more games along the lines of the originals. In that regard, you could say those abominous Colosseum and Gale of Darkness games were enough to destroy the series as we know it, but of course that wasn't the scenario. Btw, I like the idea of battling for rare pokemon, but I think they would still do random fights. I just imagine what the other players would see to be your sprite standing there with the pokemon they are battling appearing in front of them. The player sends out their pokemon and you see as much battleanimation on the roaming screen as Nintendo decides to implement, but that's just my guess.

Another point I would like to reiterate is that this idea is not for the DS but Nintendo's next handheld generation. That should be more than powerful enough to run a 1000 person server MMO in the graphical style of the old gamesand with Nintendo having methods of stopping those damn action replay users (based onwhat Iwata himself exemplified).

There's been some good ideas here. Keep 'em coming.

Here's something I just thought of after watching an infomercial on the Ipad. The odds are high after Iwata making his comment about the next gameboy (hey, a guy can hope) that it may well be just as powerful as something like that. So I would think that if Nintendo were to make a pokemon MMO with the same graphical style as the ds games (just being much more detailed and the environment being brought to a bigger scale), an MMO would be perfectly feasable to be pulled off on a system like that. Including each of the continents so far, possiblywhatever is introduced in this upcoming version as well, and having perhaps a thousand or more people playing on a server with each continent accessible I'm thinking they would have an absolute gold mine in that. I can't say if they'd charge a monthly fee but I know I'd pay it. Sure I want an MMO pokemon that reminds me of Oblivion but I also think it would be great to experience an MMO with a pokemon game much like the ones I enjoyedfrom my childhood (red/blue) all the way to present day (pearl/diamond).

Few things I'd want. Gyms run by real people, perhaps on a special server. Battles still being 2d but the pokemon fully animated. Hoping for a sensitivemicrophone on the handheld to have actual conversations. To be able to trade anywhere, at least after obtaining a key item. With permission, beingable to join someone mid-battle.

Feel free to post some things you think would benefit a pokemon MMO like this.

I've had it since about December and what I can say is it is totally different from the others. It has new additions to the controls, such as being able to dodge roll and charge up attacks and it's set on a new world with a LOT of new items.

From what I think I know, it's supposed to be released in the US sometime between October and December. I'm not toosure aboutthe European release date though as I don't keep up to date on that.

I know this much, if you are playing the N64 with it's normal 4mb of RAM, the games tended to look somewhat choppy and pixelated and operated somewhat slowly, and if you implemented the N64's RAM expansion pack, the graphics would smooth out drastically on all games and the framerate increases as well. It's just that there were only a few games that really used the feature to enhance the gameplay of certain games (by allowing more onscreen characters, and additional areas for example). What this likely means is that if the DSI has additional RAM, then the graphics on the system will likely become much smoother than they currently are.

I also know that when playing Super Smash Brothers on the N64, the graphics were somewhat fuzzy and the gameplay was horribly slow, but when playing it on the Wii (I am not going to reveal how to do this for my own protection) the graphics really become quite beautiful and the game runs about as fast as Melee, so with that in mind, if the DSI has such an increase in RAM, that'll likely help most games in a similar fashion.

No, what's important here is that if it has a camera and Music playing capabilities, then that means that it has an internal hard drive. Which means we could be seeing some more interesting info on how that'll be used. Also leaves one wondering how much memory it'll have.

I use the Nintendo USB Wi-Fi connector and have fairly decent internet and most of the time I can find opponents and about half of the time I can have decent matches online.

The DS is getting alot of good RPGs

PhazonBlazer

That it is, but then again, Nintendo's handhelds have been where a Nintendo gamer would go for their RPG fix ever since the GBA (as we all know the gamecube was severely lacking in the RPG category and the Wii really isn't doing much better [keyword being much]).
