For those of us who played the PC version of Doom 3 there was something called the "duct tape" mod that mounted a flash light on your gun and it did not change the game that much. It just made it less annoying.

Not all PC games are a bed of roses. Some games play like crap on the PC no matter what and are a waist of money vs the console versions. You also have to install all the latest patches for your game, GPU, and motherboard. You may still have some bugs after that. Cross your fingers. The console offers a much simpler solution for people who don't want to spend hours reading about the latest hardware or how to overclock their GPU. Most PC gamers build their own systems and avoid overpaying for a PC like me. =)
PC Games are great. I love Crysis. Even though my PC would smoke my 360 in graphics performance some of the PC games have frame rate issues and just don't run as smoothly as the console versions. Depends on the game though.
I played Half Life the year it came out but I never finished it until I had already played through Deus Ex which made Half Life feel inferior in many ways. That was a mistake on my part but I still think HL2 is better than the first one. I enjoyed it much more.
