I'm currently a platinum player in league of legends, and I played Starcraft 2 in High Masters, one step below GM. While I cannot argue League of Legends take less skill I can say confidently that there definitely is quite a high skill ceiling in both games.
I compare League of Legends to poker in that both games require you to be patient, put in the hands and gain the experience. The matchups are all very complex and one cannot simply just hop into LoL and do well. There are a lot of strategic elements embedded into the game, and they many of the time are by no means simple concepts.
Trying to start a game war between the two titles is silly. The league "professional" are good players and would excel at other games as well.
