To be honest, with newer games such as Skyrim where you can create a character and have whichever gender you want as the protaganist/hero, and also have them look and dress how you want, the whole 'gender stereotyping' thing isn't so much of an issue. As for other games, do people really take this stuff away with them when they play video games? Do people really go 'ooh look this game character treats women like crap, I'm gonna go outside and do the same in real life'? There's this thing called common sense, perhaps people should use it more often.
