@datriax: I was under the impression their beef was more with not getting enough info on exactly what was expected of them before they showed up. And also with wanting an honest to god stunt co-coordinator there when they do some of them more rigorous full body motion capture.

I really wish they'd do another Bureau game, or just reboot/remake the existing one. That game was really cool, but needed ... more. It felt like a game that started as a larger project than it ended up, but it played super well and had a really great atmosphere.

@electronic_eye: If it was DLC for Far Cry 4, I imagine it'd be Far Cry 4: Primal, like how Blood Dragon was Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. This sounds like a full on new $60 game to me.

This IS coming pretty hot on the heels of 4, but it also looks like it's going to have a real different vibe, since you've got sticks and stones instead of guns, and it seems like hunting/being hunted by the wildlife is a much bigger deal in this one.

@topeira: Ehh, that's such an easy problem to gin up a comic book science solution for. They Jurrasic Parked these animals back in a zoo/theme park context, and when disaster wiped out civilization these animals were left and already naturally adapted to survive.

@Legend002: No way. Trash the RE story and start with something fresh. Keep zombies, keep the evil corporation and science gone wrong, and keep the creepy mansion in the woods or downtown urban setting if you want, but burn the rest of it to the ground. The RE story is a steaming mess right now, and the LAST thing it needs is more added on to it.

Reboot or bust. Of course, if they're calling it RE7, that's probably not going to happen. : \

@ughz: They were though. The monsters in RE1-CV weren't actually dangerous by themselves. They moved slow, they generally needed to get close to the player, and they weren't particularly agile ... except when compared to a player character hobbled by tank controls which limit their mobility, and fixed camera angles which restrict what they can see, and an aiming system locked to three angles with no indication where precisely the gun is being aimed.

Had RE1 had the RE4 controls, camera, aiming, it would have been laughably easy to simply walk through the entire game, gunning down the inept, fumbling monsters. Creating threat by crippling the player isn't a design I want to go back to. Make my character feel capable, and then create enemies to threaten them.

Knee jerk prediction time! You aren't early civilization at all, but reemerging civilization after some kind of disaster wiped out the previous peoples of the planet. Eventually you find ancient, high tech ruins and get more advanced gear to fight the crazed badguy tribe who worships the "before people" and wants to wipe you out for some reason.
