i5 750 and the 970BE are monsters with cheap price

the 970BE is backward compatible with am2+ and would save budget on a cheaper mobo to an equivalent intel mobo

intel i5 750 is LGA 1156 and there is newer intel socket which is 1366 (which support hexacore cpus) while the am3 already supprt the hexacore in phenom X6

the i5 750 support triple channle RAM which makes is better in RAM (some intel mobos have 6 dimm's)

the amd is a bit cheaper though and almost equivalent in performance (the 970BE is a bit better in non-gaming and in gaming the i5 750 is a bit better)

Both have great OC potential

the i5 750 draws less power but i guess no one would build a gaming pc with 300 watt PSU lol

it's a hard choice i built a PC and i went for the 970BE (since im ATI fanboy) and im not regreting it

my new-built-PC is:

AMD phenom II X4 970BE

XFX ATI HD 5830-ZAFV

4 GB G.SKILL ripjaws 1333 (7-7-7-21)

XFX P1-650X-CAH9 650 watt modular PSU

1TB WD caviar black

MSI 870A-G54 mobo (with USB3.0 and SATA 6GB/s)

With less than 700$
