Far Cry was a game that came out when Doom 3 and Half Life 2 were released in the market. It received highly favorable reviews, despite its lack of marketing. I played through the game and what I remember most about it was the freedom a player had to complete a level. Rather than use a linear approach, the game used a nonlinear approach to reach the end of the level that made great use of the environment. Far Cry 2 was somewhat of a let down for me, for it was very different than Far Cry. For example, I was expecting to battle mutants / monsters again. However, Far Cry 2 did make excellent use of the African landscape which allowed a player a tremendous amount of freedom to explore and complete quests. The use of fire was a great addition the game that was not in the original Far Cry. Anyway, I remember that both games were very difficult and perhaps this is why some people disliked them both.

I'm not sure whether there are games that come as close to Crysis' graphic requirements. When Doom 3 was released, my Alienware computer at the time couldn't even play the game on max settings. Perhaps a computer today could handle Doom 3 (PC) on max settings. Anyway, some games that come to mind that looked really good on the PC and ones that I played are Gears of War and Warhammer Online. Both require a high-end computer to run on max settings, unlike other popular games such as Fear and the HL2 series. Ultimately, I don't think there is a game out today that rivals Crysis in terms of graphics. I can't think of any really.

Bioware's KOTOR. That game may be old but would still be a great to purchase if you never played it. Game got like 10 ratings from various critics.

The End, Metal Gear 3: Snake Eater I never beat this boss, which resulted the end of my playing MG3. I beat MG4 though. The last boss of MG4 was tough, especially the fist fight at the end.

Crysis (PC) on max setttings would not be able to run on the PS3. Crysis was unable to run on my computer even at max settings, and my computer (the tower alone) was worth about 4x more than the PS3 when bought ($600) a few years ago Nowadays, my computer is considered somewhat old (2005), but I don't think even the PS3 can compete with the Nvidia 256 MB 7800 GTX Card, Intel Pentium D CPU 3.00 GHZ, 4 GB RAM, Windows Vista, etc. even today.

Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2009 (PS3) had bad graphics, even at 720p.

Left 4 Dead (PC) and Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (PC), two games of which I have recently played until their end(s). Great games, both of which focus on PvP.

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning (PC) is a noob friendly game. I have over 500+ hours playtime in the game and I can say it is noob friendly. However, if you play on an Open RvR server, things can become difficult. For example, you will see enemy players, sometimes many levels higher than your character, at certain PQ's or public quests that you need to level up at or achieve a certain item. However, I believe the same holds true for WoW on a PvP server. Re: ORvR servers: For example in Tier 1, players can kill each other anywhere from ranks 1-21. In Tier 2, it's from ranks 22-31. In Tier 3 it's from ranks 32-40 as well as in Tier 4. However, players as low as level 1 can enter a Tier 4 zone permitted the rank 1 player is able to travel the distance safely. In other words, a rank 1 can encounter a rank 40 in Tier 4, however, a rank 40 cannot enter a Tier 1 zone and kill a rank 1 player (nor can a rank 22), because he or she will be turned into a chicken (that is, the rank 40). Anyway, from what I heard, I believe a Core server is more noob friendly than a ORvR server. The situations described above will not happen to a player on a Core server, that is, getting owned by a player many levels higher than you, such as a rank 4 versus a rank 21 in Tier 1.

I agree. My mind played tricks on me when I played Dead Space (PS3) and Doom 3 (PC). For Dead Space, I beat the game legitimately, even though it was psychologically draining. 10/10 game. However, for Doom 3 I had to use a "god code" or whatever when into 3/4 of the game on Veteran's mode or hard difficulty. Turns out the game was so scary that I was just sick of having panic attacks, so I resorted to a cheat mode to get through the game and see the ending. I think it has to do with damage, once you realize your character isn't really taking damage (unlike a real life situation), the game becomes less scarier and is easier to beat.
