@mr_azim @ibonedyourmom @philMcCrevis They're talking about The Last of Us. Phil - you absolutely have to keep playing! For people really into FPS mechanics, this game is sure to disappoint, but the environment, characters, story, bad guys, audio . . . it all comes together and is truly hypnotizing. I finished it like a month ago and I can still close my eyes and be right back there, sounds, colors and all. And I'd argue it has one of the best endings EVER.
@solatron - I think this is a false analogy, all games cost money and additional content is just a smaller version of a game. I love video games, but no matter how much I play, I will never be able to beat games on the difficult level. On the other hand I am a completionist, and the frustration of it literally being impossible for me to see the whole game would preclude me from ever buying it. That's fine for some games that are geared towards hardcore gamers like Dark Souls, but if all games did that I (and others like me) would no longer be a gamer. Why would companies that want to make money ever exclude whole groups of people?
@Dredcrumb9 There is no "x" when you hit an enemy, when played I had to turn ON the damage indicator (not as good a player, I definitely need the help), not turn it OFF. It is in the gameplay options.
@seanmdotcogan Hence the word "may" in his sentence. And it's not the Christian aspect, but questioning of blind faith and dogma that it might inspire in a philosophically-minded person.
I wasn't expecting such a touching, subtle, well edited film when I clicked the title of this article. I have always felt that Gamespot had more soul than one would expect from a video game site, and a little silly for feeling that way - I won't feel silly about that anymore. I hope this piece is seen by people outside of the gaming world, I think it would be moving for anyone with a heart.
