@Riverwolf007: Every part of the world didn't practice "slavery" whose name is a misnomer... especially when we consider that European slavery was an entirely different beast all together.

That matters because? Don't I have parents? Grandparents? Aunts, Uncles, etc? If my grandmother couldn't get a good loan on a house how exactly was supposed to build wealth during a time period when everyone built wealth off of their homes? My mother's lack of education directly affects my bringing. Her poverty and my mental state go hand in hand.

I find that people that make excuses would rather do that than work for things.

Lol alright man.

What hand outs were those?

GI Bill

Housing Bill

Reparations for interment camps to Japanese

Reparations for holocaust (even though USA had nothing to do with it ) to Jews.

When Affirmative action was white

The GI Bill is a handout? I thought it was an investment

The Housing Bill? Yeah

Reperations were handouts? You mean after we enslaved these people like animals in camps?

And yeah, you might want to look up how US businesses profited off the Nazi War machine, and how our country refused Jews entry into this country when Hitler was taking land.

So the descendants of the slaves don't get reparations? You don't see your double standards?

I do not support merely giving black people cash payouts or anything like that. I support far more educational investment in black communities, more social programs, police and municipal reforms.

Read my comment above. I addressed this.

Descendants? Dude slavery ended in the late 1800s. They aren't around anymore and those that live now were never slaves. Likewise I wouldn't give descendants of the Japanese Americans any reparations. You need to move on and stop expecting hand outs dude.

I said descendants of slaves not slaves. All those policies I listed were enacted during the 40's and 50's and 60's.

How much would properly compensate the average black man? Would money be given to people of mixed race too? Would Obama receive money?

We aren't talking money. That's what you people don't get. I'm talking good schools, clean water in our neighborhoods, access to wealth building resources, etc. Reparations for black people isn't about giving out checks.

Oh so you want hand outs and special treatment even though you weren't alive at the time? Here's an idea....take advantage of the education system and use that to advance yourself. In regard to continuing education I think tech schools might be better in this economy to get a job than going into debt for a maybe....unless you can get through law or medical school of course.

It might surprise you to learn that not all white people are wealthy. You seem to be under the impression they are. And I'm not sure what's still happening since you can get the same grants/loans as anyone else.

I'm educated bro, don't trip. It's not about me it's about the collective, the community. I want the same handouts that the Irish, Italians, Jews, Greeks, Japanese, and Natives got. I never said that all white people are wealthy, I said that the US government must do for black people equally what it has done to them.

@marth6352: Blacks don't get the GI Bill?

Also, the GI Bill isn't a handout. You have to earn it by serving in the US Armed Forces.

This is basic american history. They couldn't participate in the GI bill. They were cut off from the benefits by and large. Look at the book listed below. The GI bill was welfare. It's the very definition of welfare and was largely/overwhelmingly restricted to whites. The New Deal policies that created the american middle class discriminated against black Americans at the time. We couldn't get loans, houses, good schools, good food. We were getting lynched. The american middle class was created though social welfare and we were denied those services.
