@gaeandilth: To make it easier for me to respond. Going to copy paste your responses and put mine below.

"Because like you said there is no reason for xp after 20 so why do a side mission any way?

I agree that the level cap should have been at 20. But they probably decided to have the level cap at 50 due to that was where it was in the first game after several content updates.

"And there are not but like a few different ones. All the rest are run here push some buttons run there push some buttons. Kill mobs sure but only if they in your way no reason to otherwise."

That is the gameplay loop. Show me any other game that does not repeat the same gameplay loop where every single thing is unique.

"And where you see a dev mention content? Dev hints at armors and stratagems sure but not a word on actual content."

On their discord page a couple of months ago one of their devs/employees posted that new enemies, objectives, biomes would all be free content updates. And they already confirmed vehicles from the first game is coming in a post launch update. The only thing that will cost money are the warbonds. Which the game currently provides enough in game currency to buy just from playing. Now it comes down to see how much each new warbond will be.

"And you must not of randomed like at all to not see intentional friendly fire. I seen a guy get mad because someone stole "his" samples and shot him. That is how bad randoms are. And ive done it myself because someone killed me doing something dumb like calling a 380mm barrage at the extract."

Most of my play time is with randoms. I have seen randoms calling in orbital, airstrikes and even mines on the extract and I put all that under tactical stupidity. Do you play on PC or PS5? I play on PC and do not enable cross play. So its a possibility console players are much worse.

@gaeandilth: In terms of actual mission variety there is 7. The game is not all about the main missions but the entire level in general.

Destroy- Nests, factories, fuel depos, airships, etc.

Retrieve - Get the SSDD and bring it to another area to start it up. Usually a comm tower. Some have extra steps by having to first turn on the power generator.

Escort - Save the citizens

Load or set up - The SEAF Cannon and a SAM site (anti air vs automatons which takes out their dropships for you), Oil extractor, geological survey, ICBM.

Kill specific target - Elite enemies on lower difficulties.

Capture area - I have only seen this on lower difficulties.

Extract - Its at the end of every mission, but its a hold out for X amount of time mission objective

I honestly don't know who you keep matching up with or if you play with friends that troll you like that. I have played over 50 hours and with randoms never had someone do friendly fire multiple times on purpose.

The highest difficulty I have done was suicide and yes it was tough. That is the point. It requires team communication, and strategy on who gets what stratagems and boosters. Barely made it with 1 person left alive running around to get in the drop ship. The devs will be adding more content into the game that will most likely make the game easier. More weapons with medium armor penetration, more stratagems, better armor bonuses.

As far as the XP right now level 20 is the highest you need to be to get access to all the stratagems, which I have never had an issue gaining levels.

And for the lawsuits. The company literally does not deny that the game was inspired by starship troopers (which by the way Sony owns and they are the publisher of the game). What is Disney going to sue them for having a bi pedal machine, or Terminator franchise by having humanoid robots in their game?

Is there even such a thing as a twin stick with friendly fire? Yes, it was called the first Helldivers game.

@gaeandilth: You are spreading treasonous fake news in your post. There are more than 3-4 missions in the game. There is actually about a dozen mission objectives. That is not even including all the side missions. Maps are procedurally generated, there is weather effects that affect gameplay, 2 different enemy factions with a 3rd most likely on the way from the first game within a year. The reason friendly fire doesn't turn off most is because each player brings 5 lives with them for a total of 20. Having a few accidents with friendly fire doesn't ruin the game. Going higher in difficulty provides more medals, credits, and other in game resources. So I don't see where you get there is no rewards for going higher in difficulty.

What sells this game is that helldivers 2 has accomplished in being the best co-op multiplayer war sci-fi theme game to date. And like you said in the beginning the mechanics and gameplay is there. Calling in airstrikes and orbital bombardments gives that satisfying destruction feeling. The gunplay is solid, and the sound affects are amazing.

@sladey: The casuals may go away after a month, but I am pretty sure the hardcore players will still be playing by June.

@whatsazerg: No, did I say only new games are relevant? A game never goes down to under $10 until it is several years old. Which makes it irrelevant, the company is not looking to make a profit by that point for the game, they are done patching/releasing new content for the game.

@ahpuck: When its at that price point (which it will never be) the game will be irrelevant. And the 3rd game in the series will be coming out.

@nl_skipper: Or he is just becomes too old. This game is already showing he was out of treasure hunting for several years and married. Drake in the first game was already in his 30s if I am not mistaken. And now he looks in his mid 40's.

@skyhighgam3r: Episode 1 was your young Obi-Wan movie, even if he wasn't the main character.

@TheZeroPercent: I don't think it will burn out as long as the movies are good. Marvel has 3 super hero movies out every year and that is still going strong. When people had doubt on Guardians of the Galaxy, it was a huge success and everyone loved it, people had doubt with Ant Man and that was a another great movie. Star Wars could be the same thing, if they do a good job.
