Possibly. Still, if it gets spread around, it will be the worst thing to happen to this game. Even infinite health hackers can be defeated by either bleed or kicking them off a ledge, but you can't counter someone who can backstab you from anywhere.

Deserving it is subjective. The guy was a red phantom, and the majority of them were red phantoms. There's no such thing as unfair when dealing with a red phantom. RSS is the exception, and I've pointed out a hiding host to a summoned red phantom before.

Some guy summoned me in Dark Anor Londo to farm some phantoms. After a while, a red phantom shows up. We get a few hits in, then he starts running. After a while, I'm separated from the host, still in pursuit. and what happened next completely weirded me out. Still with his back to me, the phantom did the "can't use item" motion, then immediately teleported behind me for a backstab. Note he was even out of range of my halberd, with his back to me. Finally the host made it as I died, and I watched it happen again. He did the animation, back to the host, then teleported immediately in to the backstab animation and killed the host.

Is anyone aware of this? It's potentially gamebreaking. I can avoid being backstabbed most of the time, but this is on par with hacking, and was much worse than the already horrible lagstabs.

Thanks! I'm going to start some testing today, and I will take your information in to consideration.

Hahaha, no, I'm not looking for it to save me. I just want to kill whoever I'm fighting. It'll be a nice surprise! ;)

I have inspiration from this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VFXK_7Sz2M

I want to use this type of a build because it looks extremely fun. I want to use it as a way to simply mess with people, especially Forest Gankers. Problem is, Karmic Justice is one of the most poorly understood things in the entirety of this game. I just want to compile a list of everything everyone knows or even thinks they know about it. I will do my own testing once I get my copy of Dark Souls back, I lent it to a friend to try and get him in to the series.

1. How is KJ activated? I hear it's a rapid number of hits, either four or five. I also hear it's an undefined large amount of damage. I hear it's both.

2. Is KJ activated after death? The person in the video gets a lot of activations after death. I've also heard that people die without it going off. Some offered the explanation that it can be activated if people attack you during your dying animation.

3. What is its damage affected by? The person in the video pulls out a TCC, some say the magadjust alters the damage, some say it is for tricking the opponents. Others say that the overall AR of your right hand weapon affect it.

4. Do Dusk crown/Darkmoon crown affect it? Also, should I go with Ring of The Sun's Firstborn of Bellowing Dragoncrest ring?

Final question, is Red Tearstone activated after death, or do you still have to be alive?

My plan for this is a character with high strength and faith, because the Grant +5 has the highest AR I can recall, for any weapon. Another option would be a lightning Zweihander/greataxe, because those also have insane ARs. The character would also wield a Grass Crest or post-patch Eagle shield in the left hand. Armor would be full Havel's, except with a Dusk Crown. Rings would be Red Tearstone and RoTSFB.

All of these aspects together would cause for an unexpected burst of pretty high damage. Hopefully the people I use it against will have low enough health to be killed.

I'd say your situation is pretty fortunate. It's better than when I PvP in the forest. Almost kill phantom, host chugs flasks, almost kill phantom, host chugs flasks, etc.

If you're one-on-one with a host spamming anything, increase your damage output. Unless DB works in a way I'm unfamiliar with, just go to town on your enemy. Hit harder and faster than your enemy can heal, and preferably use a weapon that can stagger easily. If you manage to stun them and have enough stamina to kill them, they're dead.

Regardless of anything, it will stomp you in to the ground. AT FIRST. I was raised Megaman/Megaman X and Devil May Cry games, so I had something of an advantage out of the gate, and it was still incredibly difficult. Once you beat it, you'll have seen all the surprises, however. Subsequent playthroughs will be easier, and there's no point in buying the game if you don't play it more than once. Note: When I say subsequent playthroughs, I am referring to new characters. You can go in to a mode called New Game Plus, and you keep all your character's gear, but the enemies are A LOT stronger.

Once you figure it out, it's an extremely easy game. The thing is, there's a lot more to figure out than most games. I suggest watching videos by people like EpicNameBro and Vageta311. Those guys are experts at this game and will give you insights and knowledge that will help you dominate. I've also gotten extremely good and knowledgeable at this game, so I can give you advice if you need it, as well.

I suggest getting this game. You will not regret it.

Boom, the first thread regarding boss help that is not a request! I play this game far too often and have nine different characters. I find most of the fun in this game comes from helping others at this point. I can help virtually anyone ranging from level 20 all the way to 150 on PS3. Just about any boss fight is possible, I try to keep all areas open and all items necessary on-hand.

Feel free to add me: M415mike

With the friend request, include the boss you need help with and the SL of your character.

I can only answer two, three, and for for you. However, three has already been answered, but I figured I'd try and give a little more in-depth answers to two and three.

I'd say that the game itself is much harder than Demon's Souls. However, it is a little balanced out by a few thigs. The controls seem a lot more fluid and responsive. While the enemies and bosses seem a lot stronger in Dark Souls, I can dance and dodge around them all day. The hitboxes and dodges in Demon's Souls seemed to be not quite as refined, and I would often get hit by attacks that were nowhere near me, and the dodging seems more restrictive. There's a poise system which tends to be a pretty big portion of the game. Poise allowsd you not to get staggered. Whereas in Demon's Souls, any hit would interrupt you, you can take more hits in Dark Souls without being interrupted based on how high your poise is. Enemies in Demon's Souls seemed to only have certain times they could be staggered, but in Dark Souls they can be staggered consistantly based on how much poise damage you deal. The bosses are absolutely harder in Dark Souls than in Demon's. Just as a quick example, in Demon's you are supposed to lose against the Vanguard in the tutorial. In Dark Souls, the tutorial monster makes the Vanguard an absolute joke, AND you have to beat it to continue. There is the advantage of not losing half of your health bar when not in human form, however you can not have more than 20 healing items on hand (not including spells). On the other hand, you get infinite healing items as opposed to having to buy them. Spells are based on charges instead of mana, so you cannot have infinite casts, though they do recharge (along with healing items) upon resting at a checkpoint. Enemies also reset upon resting. It's all of these differences that change the difficulty from one game to another. I will say, however, that I started with Dark Souls and have almost 300 hours on it. Upon picking up Demon's Souls, I laughed my way through most of the game, and still have more trouble starting a character in Dark Souls.

As for length of the game, my first playthrough was almost 75 hours. My quickest playthrough after a lot of experience and pure rushing through was under 7 hours.
