Half-Life isn't one of the greatest games of all-time it IS the greatest game of all time. Not only was it the first PC game I played to completion, but I actually stopped playing games for awhile (except for Blue Shift and Opposing Force) because nothing else I tried out or saw in the store could match up. It actually ruined games for me for awhile -- it was that good.
