I got this game thinking I would only play it a little bit as it was a bit old school/retro (granted I did play the heck out of it when it originally came out as well as dabbled with BUILD back in the day). I just got done over the last few days totally getting owned by this game in terms of getting kicked in the balls with awesomeness. I literally ended up binge-ing on duke nukem and the commentary and totally ate up the newest episode which turned out to be my favorite in terms of level design by far (which makes sense as the original folks that made the original levels got a new stab at it with all their lessons learned/experience since).

While I absolutely had a bias in terms of enjoying duke nukem as a kid; I didn't think that played much into this case. For example I just can't really get into the old school doom/doom 2 versions on xbox at all but I loved it as a kid. I just get bored with those versions, and I wasn't expecting to like this game either due to past experience with old school doom. But this one sneaked up on me, and holy cow for some reason I just ate it up big time. For me this one is a 10/10 and I definitely dig the new look of the True3D mode it offers as another little cool factor.

For those that are old school fans of duke nukem 3D I think this one is absolutely worth picking up to enjoy the latest episode if nothing else. It seems that Gearbox ended up taking down previous versions of DN3D on Steam/GOG which sucks as I'd like to go back now and enjoy the other episodes and custom packs, but at least this version left a great impression on me and I still am enjoying replaying it after beating it. Plus achievements = additional goodness. I'd dare say it's even worth the non-sale price, it's just sweet to play thru all the old episodes and then get a new one to boot w/ the True3D add on polish. To me the last episode really maximizes on the action/shooting with mega weapons and lots of enemies (including progressively harder ones); so the perfect stress relief haha!

So in this case, I think the Gamespot review is way off base at a 5/10. Enough to actually go out of my way to login to GS and post my impressions of the game as I think the review does it a disservice.

I'm so buying this; however that being said, this will literally be the first game I pick up for the PS4 that I bought like at least 8 months ago by now. I buy a 'next gen' system to have the 1st game I really buy be a game that came out on the PS1. That is the state of our next gen systems. What happened to releasing systems with a library of awesome games like they did back in the past.... -_- While your at it Sony, just get all your PS* classics on the PS4 so I can have more games to play. *cough* Suikoden II, Kings Field games! *cough* Sad that I still use my X360 to play all my games while I wait for next gen to catch up with titles that make me want to buy something.

Just like a really bad game usually has poop decisions made in it, this is an equally *hitty one to end Feedbackula (although I am assuming this is just a lack of ideas April fools joke).

Good luck in your next career move of being a hooker neckbeard guy - you provided me with a bit of entertainment! Don't be a fool, wrap your tool!

While I wasn't certainly a big fan of the Facebook buyout of Oculus, thinking about it more I am starting to feel a little bit better about it. The reason I say that is because I would like VR to be just like the television, one in everybody's house as a typical constant in life. Thinking about the possibilities with VR that are not just simply limited to video games is truly exciting.

However I think in the Oculus independent form it wouldn't ever have a chance of becoming such a device. To get that kind of common acceptance it would have to be in A LOT of people's hands, and only the really big dog companies have that kind of reach. Hopefully the Rift can make good use of the billion + users of Facebook as that is a hell of a lot of exposure and probably a really good chance to really get it out there beyond the small niche that it is now.

Obviously the tech is truly revolutionary, but eventually it would have to find its way to a truly vast amount of people through the companies that have that reach. If Facebook is really serious about diversifying I hope they can foster this technology and really push it out to the masses because like others have said, competitors will get involved which will spur futher innovation and acceptance which we can only stand to benefit from. Think of it like the Apple iPhone first really striking interest in the general public. I hope we have that kind of reaction to the technology so in the future we can come home each day, throw on our VR and interact with others, have all kinds of life changing experiences with this interactive tech that none of us can truly probably predict is possible. But while this may not be the best way to get there at the moment in the general feeling, I still think it is a step in the right direction to a much bigger thing beyond just gaming.
