I haven't worked on the PS3 specifically, but when ever I get in a situation like this i try to isolate the problem. So I suppose I would try re-installing the original drive that doesn't read BR discs anymore. If it does auto accept the disc, then you can be fairly confident that your problem lies in the new drive. If the old drive does not auto accept discs, then you can be fairly confident there is some other component in the system which is causing the problem.

I would recommend the same router, the WRT54GL. With a custom firmware it has been more reliable than any other router I have ever owned. The WRT54GL is not a particularly cheap router, but it is in the same price range as most other b/g routers on the market.

Yeah I am waiting for the next hitman myself. Hopefully, they do something interesting with the stealth genre. It will be interesting to see what the next splinter cell brings to the table.

Accessing PSN and downloading demos is free. Playing online games is also free. Whether you can mute other players in game is game dependent, but I bet just about every game allows it.

USPS, UPS, and FedEx are all fine. Sure, depending on where you live you might get a surly delivery man, but the system as a whole for each company is fine. I have lived in several spots and have received packages from each company -- sometimes things didn't go to plan, more often then not they did. Don't let a couple of bad experiences ruin your perception of such large companies.

If your PS3 is wired to your router, or receives a wireless signal with a quality greater than 70% then the only thing you can do to make your connection faster is to pay for a faster internet connection.

Too late, already pre-ordered it. Amazon gives you $20 credit for your next game purchase if you pre-order now, couldn't resist.

[QUOTE="True_Gamer_"] 2 hours per game? Thats all they accomplished in 3 years? And no new game works? I wouldnt call that cracked....The Xbox360 is cracked a chipped one can play any game released and any game that WILL be released....online and if the copy is done right UNDETECTED.

Don't get the wrong idea, I completely agree with your sentiment. It is extremely impressive how no one has made piracy on the PS3 easy for the mass public. All I am trying to say is that technically there is piracy on the PS3, but in practical terms there is not.

I only got a PS3 recently so I haven't really been following the news, but after some short googling, it seems people have been able to play backed up Blu-ray games off of the PS3's HDD. However... the process is messy, does not seem to work on later firmwares (like after 2.4, although I didn't really check this), and it does not appear to work with all games. And from my quick skimming on the topic it appears you need to repeat the 2 hour or so process each time you want to play a different copied game (I did not check to see whether I am correct in this assumption) Link to the CNET aritcle on this sunbject: http://asia.cnet.com/blogs/rehashplus/post.htm?id=63005989 Now the last post on a forum regarding this hack is from late 2008, so maybe there is something new out there. But from the information I have seen, the PS3 is still Fort Knox in comparison to the wet paper bag the PSP is.

That shot looks great, but it probably is not perfectly representative of the final game quality. Just in game assets being rendered with anti-aliasing, and who knows what else. With that said though, that image is probably fairly honest. If you look at the next screenshot, you will be able to see how terrible the reflections are, and if it was a complete bullshot, then I don't think Polyphony would let that through.
