I recently packed my game collection up for a move and one thing came to mind, gaming is nothing compared to what it was. As I packed away each console with the games I have for it I thought man this generation of gaming sucks. Video games used to be fun and unique. Company's took chances and there was a variety to games. Now they are mostly fps and crap indie games. Each generation of consoles had new fresh idea's and new game series. There were risks taken and we as gamers benefited. I think gaming has become to mainstream and now we get yearly releases of uninspired awful games but people still buy them. Call of duty bo3 is awful yet it gets rated highly by almost everyone. Alien isolation is great but it gets trashed. I miss the days of Resident evil, shining force, mega man, dino crisis, soul calibur (before it was dumbed down) , grandia, skies of arcadia, marvel vs capcom and other games that were unlike any other. Metal gear solid v, tomb raider and alien isolation are the only new games this gen for Xbox one that are good the rest are crap. Hopefully something happens to make gaming become uncool so companies has to put forth more effort to win people back.

@2Chalupas: it was fourth place because most people bought into ps2's hype and lied about performance. It sold almost 10 million units and was only supported 3 years. If it was kept alive it would have outsold xbox and maybe gamecube. I think gaming sucks now because sega is out of it and we now have Microsoft who could give a sh1t about us gamers. This gen is remastered games and crap indie titles. People who defend indie games and say that are good should just buy a retron and play real 8,16,32 but games.

Dreamcast came out in 1998 in japan, xbox 2001 so it's no wonder the Xbox was more powerful. when dreamcast failed i got an Xbox because sega game It a ton of exclusives. I think the dreamcast had more staying power people still make games for it and it gets a lot of love.

I own both consoles but dreamcast was far better. If you look at them today dreamcast has many games that look good while xbox has none. Dreamcast would have had half life had it not been canned in 2001 and that game is better than halo. As someone who remembers dreamcast the games were fresh not recycled fps over and over again. Ps2 only won because it had a dvd player. Its a shame consoles got so far from games and more concerned with apps and broadcasts. Dreamcast was the last true gaming console. Some of the best games on Xbox were ment for dreamcast. Hotd, shenmue 2, soul calibur 2. Xbox would have shitty games like brute force. I remember when I bought code veronica I was blown away by the graphics. Name one Xbox game that looked better than that. It also had power stone. Sonic adventure, shenmue, thotd and many other great exclusives so it had far more great games in 2 years than xbox had in its whole life span in terms of originals Then you people bash the dreamcast controller. The first Xbox controller was a ding joke. The duke give me a break. A would without xbox would be better for gaming.
