The only time progressive is better than interlaced is when you're watching high speed sports ect. While i'v ebeen gaming on the games i've mentioned i've seen no flickering and the detail has been better. I can only report on the things i have seen. Where as I thibk, you're just some kid who's starting an argument, but who doesn't even have a HDTV, or has not tested it themselfs, but are just going on what they have read. Thinking it makes them an "Expert".death1505921

I hate to dig up this topic, but am I the one trying to start an argument? I think you are, by my logic. You respond to my comment by "LMFAO", as if I'm a dumbass when you could have just as easily explained why you think my statement is incorrect. And for the record, I DO have an HDTV, a 32" LCD inch at that. I don't consider myself an expert as you do(from what your implyed) but I have played Gears in 1080i and 720p in 2 different situations. On Fuel depot, I noticed that most of the metal railing was quite dark, and it was hard to make out the dents and scratches, but on 720p it was a little more defined. Another example is on Gridlock, the poster next to the boomshot was crisper in 720p. But that's just my expierience, not an "experts" input.

And about the emo thing... I just don't find death1505921 to be the perkiest of names...

[QUOTE="kazu-"]Since it's interlaced, 1080i could be compared more to 540p, which is essentially what it is. So, I say 720p.death1505921

LMFAO!? Interlaced has nothing to do with pixel resulution lmfao!

In the progressive, 720 lines are presented to the human eye every 1/60th of a second while 1080i presents only 540 lines. Therefore a more accurate name for the 1080i is 540i. It also more accurately represents the fact that the interlaced system is lower in quality than 720P. Not only is 720P superior to 540i in quality (note the flicker, which you seem to not believe in...), but it is cheaper! And it is naturally compatible with computers (which all use progressive scanning).

I didn't know some emo kid could laugh.

Nobody on here has given you the answer you seek, just said, "hey nice tv" or, "yeah its a good TV, I have the same one in white..." when they don't even make the LNT-53 series in white yet........:|

Ok, the TV is going to be very good, heres why:

Contrast ratio: A dynamic contrast of 8000:1 is comparable to a 1400-1500:1 static, your blacks will be very black and everything will look just fine. A great purchase, I myself am currently scoping out the LNT-4066f series with the 15,000:1 contrast and 1080p resolution, its the same style of TV and should actually look very similar.

Resolution: This is a 720p TV, don't let pretenders fool you with that 1080p sharp being the same price, 1080p can BARELY be seen on a 37, SORT of be seen on a 40, BE SEEN on a 46, and BE SEEN WELL on a 52. For a 32" TV 720 is the sweetspot and all you really need.

Connectivity: 3 HDMI ports, and 2 component inputs on this model. The connectivity rivals that of the Bravia XBR2/3 series, now when the XBR 4 comes out expect something ridiculous like 4 HDMI and 3 component, but for $1000 more expensive, not to mention the clouding issues that have plagued Sony as of late.'

Refresh Rate: I was a bit disappointed to check out these TV's finally back in February and see an 8ms response rate tacked on once again. The industry seems to be moving more towards the 4-6 range as a whole, but anything below 12 will leave you with lagless gaming. For those unfamiliar with LCD technology, refresh rate is how fast the signal from the machine you are outputting from (Xbox 360) reaches and is displayed on the Television you hook it up to. The only gripe I have with this set is the refresh rate, and even it is not bad. Supposedly the game mode lowers it to 6ms, but the graphics take a huge hit...

Problems with the set: There are none, there is a 1% overscan, but you won't notice that, Samsung has fixed its problems with the 95d, 96d, 51d series TV's for the most part. That sharp you were referred too has bad horizontal banding, i.e lines across the TV due to uneven backlighting caused by manufacturing problems at Sharp's new plant in China. The Bravia series are suspect to clouds, Sony knows about the problem but offers no mechanical fix, just an optimization DVD to make your picture not show the clouds as much. The clouds show up in black scenes literally as white clouds in all 4 corners. The samsung lines are the most reliable and the most problem-free TV's out right now.

All in all, I'd buy it and count yourself lucky, the aesthetics aren't too bad either if I do say so myself :D

Wow, thanks a lot, that's exactly what I was hoping for. Wish there was a rep system on Gamespot =/

Well I've been looking at this TV for a while, and if someone with possibly more knowledge on HDTVs could take a look, that'd help me out. From my understanding, it's pretty damn good.

EDIT: Crap, I can't link it. Well, it's a Samsung 32" LCD, LNT-3253H.
