BL3 was garbage (to me) but this game is fantastic. Disagree with most of the problems the reviewer had with the game. The fact that this site gave BL3 an 8 and rated this lower is weird. If comparing those two games side by side, this is clearly the better game (I know that's not what they were doing and this might not even be the same reviewer).
Highlights: No tiktok twins, the jokes all land a lot better, the characters are a lot more interesting, and the world is a lot more fun to be in. Gameplay was fine in 3 but feels better in this one. The voice acting is great. Side quests don't feel formulaic and they have depth.
Someone in the comments did a rebuttal to the reviewer and I think that's an opinion worth reading just to see two detailed sides.
Ignore what I wrote for the most part, I needed to write my thoughts more for me than anyone else.
@santinegrete: Unions are great as a temporary measure to elicit change in favor of employees but as a permanent entity they become the problem. If you're a top talent you can make way more money outside of a union than in one, in any industry.
What sucks is when a union mutes talent in favor of the collective (no matter how good you are you can't get a job without the union because they're too big/have too much control).
I'm massively in favor of unions as temporary entities though. Spun up to elicit necessary change and then dissolved once the change is realized.
He claims research has proven that lootboxes aren't gambling but when you search for said research all you find is how lootboxes are being linked to problematic gambling. Right behind those journals are articles that explain how lootboxes aren't fun and lead to poor game design.
As someone who has actually put a lot of money into this game as a sort of hobby, understanding completely how scope creep has ruined every timeline, I have no regrets and come back every quarter to play with a bunch of friends I've made over the years. Often I have a lot of fun.
Yeah it can be a buggy mess, especially during their promotions. Yes I'm frustrated with the timeline. Yes I still enjoy what's there. I personally don't consider it a scam because of the amount of time I've poured into it over the years and the fun I've had. I get the frustration. I get the people outside looking in hating on it. I get the supporters. It is what it is. I doubt it'll be what anyone on any side expects and there are technical limitations that I'm not sure they can overcome but we'll see what happens.
SQ42, no idea but I do think that most of the technical issues exist within their networking and data management so a single player game might be far better than the persistent universe ever could be just due to the limitation of network traffic and data management at the scale of which the game wants to exist.
Love it or hate it, it exists and people are free to support it.
Maybe a queueing system based on something like an account shipping address (1 per account or address). If another account tries to use the same shipping address, deny it. Won't stop em all but it would give people a chance to get in line.
Do what EVGA does and send an email once your turn comes up with 1 day to purchase.
Don't really know but I hope everyone eventually gets what they want. Games are fun and with Covid everywhere, one of the better ways a lot of people escape the madness.
@esqueejy: Yeah why would we portray a character as being self conscious about physical characteristics. Who would ever want to inject feelings into a characters? Gross. Why would we have other characters react negatively to uncommon physical characteristics? Clearly in the real world nobody would ever do that, especially not during the time of the Vikings! The insanity!
Fact is, it happened, it happens, and it is normal. The reactions of people during that time period would have absolutely been more negative and extreme than today (though even today people will instinctively react to what they are not used to - for better or worse). A character who is disfigured and has absolutely no feelings about that isn't a believable character.
Your idea of progress, at least in this instance, is centered around a denial of reality. I'd suggest accepting that sometimes things aren't pretty. While that is and should be ok, it does not mean that the fear and self doubt will magically go away or not exist. It also does not mean that every persons reactions will be accepting.
Girl has a girlfriend with burns that makes her have lower self esteem.
Game has character described as having that exact same issue (which is completely normal).
There is no issue here. Even if we ignore the time period in which this character exists there isn't actually anything wrong with portraying a character as having negative feelings about some physical characteristic. It's called being human.
Aside from all of that, this is a video game, and if none of the above was true the content would still be ok.
