@Brazucass: How do you figure man? Seems like Jim's been pretty excited to be playing this from what I've seen.

@Frame_Dragger: As far as there already being demos and such, this was my thinking too before I tried it. but the cool thing about it is the instant gratification, no install, no download, want to try it? You're playing in 30 seconds. As far as bandwidth goes, on a personal level I haven't run into that problem, on a macro level I definitely see what you're saying. I played it here at work where we have some sort of insanely fast connection. Will have to try it at home this weekend. Sorry to sound like such a shameless promoter for all this stuff, I was just really impressed by this yesterday.

@godofwar1229: Nope, not to try the game demos, only if you want that unlimited package thing they have, or to actually buy games from them.

Just tried this yesterday when I heard about it. It takes a few minutes to install the onlive client and set up the account the first time, but from that point on, you click on any "play now" button on the site, and you're playing within 30 seconds. It's pretty amazing.

"Now heres a question to ask your selves do you think homeland security uses Vista or the OS X? What makes you feel...safer?" Well Pocky, I would guess that, like most businesses, Homeland security probably uses Macs and PCs as well as some linux/Irix machines in different areas of their organization. Working for Cnet/GameSpot, we have mostly PCs, but several Macs and I don't think we have many security problems with any of them. Really guys, the security issues mostly apply if you don't know what you're doing. In this respect, I would say that Macs are better for people who don't understand what is safe behavior and unsafe behavior on the internet. This however is not because of some innate security superiority on the mac, it is because of the miniscule market share and the resulting dearth of viruses written for it. My experience with Windows has been that as long as you know what to do and what not to do on the internet, and are using the right browser (Firefox or Explorer 7), you won't have much trouble with viruses and spyware. BTW, I do love the new Apple security commercials with the secret service dude, funny ad but in real life it's not as bothersome as they make it out to be.

actually, when they were first released, the Quad core Mac Pro's were an extremely good deal. The problem is that Apple's product cycle is so slow and they don't lower their prices, so after their configs have been out for a few months they are no longer a good deal.

"Did you know every year Microsoft loses market share to both linux and Mac OS X??? last year, about 4.3% of the personal PC OS was gained by MAC OS, dont know about linux, but windows isnt doing as great as you think" Actually 4.3% of the personal PC market wasn't "gained" by the Mac OS, that figure refers to an increase in their market share in relation to what it was before, and it's more like 16%. what this means is that before this increase Apple's total share of the PC market was 4.4%, now it's 4.8%. Not as impressive. For more info go here: http://www.macworld.com/news/2006/07/20/marketshare/index.php Now, the point is, who cares! Windows market share dominates Apple's, it has for years, and it will continue, but what does that matter. Apple isn't going anywhere, they make good products, a lot of people swear by them, if you like them then continue to use them. All this Mac elitism comes off as insecurity. It's almost as if the hardcore macusers feel that they have to continually bring people over to their side or their platform will shrink and die. Don't worry about it, there are enough people who swear by Macs and will continue to use Macs that Apple is not going to go away. So drop the evangelical attitude, stop quoting figures you heard on some mac fanboy board and haven't researched, and just enjoy the fact that you've got a great machine that you enjoy using. Cheers.

dude, why would anyone assume that Microsoft paid GameSpot to write this. Microsoft released a new operating system, it's a major update to a major gaming platform, doesn't it seem logical to you guys that GameSpot would do some coverage? Where's the conspiracy there?

C'mon guys, saying that Microsoft has paid off GameSpot to review vista is pretty ridiculous. The Mac OS is a great platform, and for those of you who use it more power to you, however at this point in time it is not a major gaming platform. Windows is a major gaming platform and Vista includes a major graphics API update, therefore it will be attracting a lot of attention from gamers and it makes sense for GameSpot to review it. The "who ripped off who" argument is also pretty ridiculous and completely inconsequential. Most of these derivative features can be traced back much further than their current incarnations, and it was neither Microsoft nor Apple that came up with them, "widgets" included. As long as the OS has what you need, who cares where it came from. Just relax and enjoy your respective machines, whatever OS they happen to run.
