Then you're welcome for the explanation regarding the discrepancy, because it makes all the difference.
"4.5 to 7 is a huge inconsistency no matter how you look at it"
Which is explained by differing opinions and requires consumers to read multiple reviews to receive an informed opinion. For just a single example, look at the 29 reviews on FF: Maiden of the Black Water. Reviews range from two 4 scores to a 9 and aggregate at 6.7. The inconsistencies are explained by preference and how each individual weights pros and cons, etc.
"The person listed the scores and although GameSpot tends to score lower than the aggregate across the board"
This information is actually available on Metacritic. They score an average of 0.58 lower than other publications. However, this too is easily explainable by preferences because it is well within the range on a standard bell curve and by no means an outlier. Further, Gamespot also doesn't use decimals in their scoring, so it makes sense there is going to be some deviation when you compare them to other publications because their system is different.
Sitting at a 67 on Meta, with scores ranging from 9 to 4. Seems like a polarizing game, where the negative aspects really annoy people or can be overlooked if you're really into FF and the Wii U, etc.
"We know this is in stark contrast to what many other retailers are doing, but we are taking a stance to protect family time during this important holiday."
I truly cannot believe that people 'buy' this sort of PR BS...
