Hey guys, I'm not currently a nintendo DS owner, but I plan on being one within the next month or so. Because college dorms are so cramped, and I only have a 13 inch tv to bring with me, I plan on getting a ds. I was just curious about with games have the best replay value. I personally love most kinds of games except for turn based strategy games.Any help on what games I should get would be wonderful!

Get Mario Kart DS, New Super Mario Bros, and GTA: Chinatown Wars for sure. Pokemon Platinum is a good choice if you like the series. Most people like Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, but I can't look past the whole "Toon Link" thing.

If you're into text-based adventure games or want something a bit different, you'll want to check out Phoenix Wright and Hotel Dusk as well. I didn't know anything about the genre when I got my DS but it has quickly become one of my favorites, mostly thanks to those two games.

House of the Dead Overkill or Madworld?

HotD for sure if you can overlook the short length. MadWorld is far too repetitive and has occasionally frustrating controls.

Hey all. So in 5-8 business days I'll be a new DS Lite owner. :D

As a huge Zelda and Pokemon fan, I'm already planning on buying Phantom Hourglass and either Platinum or the Gold/Silver remakes whenever they release stateside.

However, I'm looking for a third game, a wildcard if you will, that is outside my comfort zone. I really want a strong story-driven game, so maybe something like but not necessarily an RPG game. I have considered FF IV, but I've never played a FF game before:oops: so I want to make sure it gets good approval from you all before considering. I'm open to pretty much anything if it's got a good story and some replayability, so let me have it, guys.

If you like a good story, you should definitely check out Hotel Dusk. It's a very cool but underappreciated game. Granted, it's more of an "interactive novel" than a game, and there isn't that much replayability other than just to find secrets you may have missed the first time, but the story really is great and for me it was a nice change of pace. If you can find it, especially if it's cheap, it's well worth a look.

Also, I agree with others who said that MK DS, NSMB, and GTA:CW are great games, although none of them are really heavy on story (maybe GTA but it's arguable) they are all great games that all DS owners should have.

I have played very few RPGs and I would like to try to get into the genre. I know from reading reviews and such that the DS has many good ones. So, my question is, can someone recommend a good, quality RPG that does not have TOO steep of a learning curve, and that would be entertaining for someone who hasn't played many in the past?

P.S. I have played the Pokemon RPG series, so that doesn't count.

I agree that Sonic and the Secret Rings was very underrated.

I personally enjoyed Destroy All Humans: Big Willy Unleashed, but it is far from perfect and I kind of understand why it gets the bad reviews that it does.

I thought the first Avatar: The Last Airbender game on Wii was decent, but I'm sort of biased since I watch the show a lot. The second one was terrible though.

Also, it doesn't get ridiculously low reviews, but Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People on WiiWare is a good (but overpriced) episodic series.

The remakes of Bully and Okami on Wii are often overlooked but if you haven't played the PS2 versions they are well worth playing.

Well, I've narrowed it down to either Zelda or Pokemon now. I had to forget about Trauma Center and Professor Layton because no one in town has them in stock. And I keep hearing that MPH isn't really good unless you have Wifi (and I won't while on vacation).

So Zelda or Pokemon? I still can't decide. It might come down to whether or not I want to go to Gamestop, since they are the only store in town that has Zelda, but every place has Pokemon.

I need help finding a game to play on my vacation this weekend. I have a few ideas so if anyone could recommend one of them or another one that I might have missed that would be great. I mostly play action/adventure games but I would be willing to try pretty much anything except turn-based strategy games and real hardcore RPGs.

My Ideas: Legend of Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Metroid Prime Hunters, Professor Layton, Trauma Center, Pokemon Diamond/Pearl (maybe)

Again I am open to suggestions. The only things I have played very much so far are the Ace Attorney series, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros., and Hotel Dusk.
