I am planning on buying a PS3 soon and I will probably buy 2-3 games with it.There are several games that I know I want and will probably buy at some point, but I can't decide which to buy first. Here's the list of games I am considering:

-Uncharted

-Resistance 1 and 2

-Ratchet & Clank Future (all of them)

-Grand Theft Auto IV

-inFamous

-Batman

-Burnout Paradise

-MLB 09: The Show

-Little Big Planet

There are probably more that I can't think of at the moment.Basically I want to pick 2 or 3 that will give me the best possible overall variety and quality.Any help with this would be great. Also, feel free to add any other games similar to these that I may have forgotten or just not heard about.

And before anyone asks, I'm still not sure about MGS 4.I have not played any of the Metal Gear games.Would I enjoy it more if I played the first three MGS games or does it really not matter?

For some reason I have a strong desire to play a puzzle-type game right now. Would Professor Layton or Mystery Case Files: Millionheir be a better choice? I've heard Layton is better, but Millionheir is much cheaper, so can anyone add anything to that?

I would choose Professor Layton and the Curious Village. I was unsure about whether or not I would like it, but it ended being one of my favorite games for the Ds. I thought the puzzles in it were good, and it also has nicely animated cut scenes with voices. I haven't played Mystery Case Files: Millionheir, so I don't know how good it is, but it got a 66.58% on Gamerankings and a 65% on Metacritic. On the website for the Professor Layton game, professorlaytonds.com, there is a demo of the game, in case if you haven't tried it yet. It is under the section "play the Free Demo." If you didn't like the demo, than you might not like the game. I liked the demo and ended up liking the game.

Thanks for the tip about the demo, I liked it and will probably buy the full game.

What are some DS games like use the DS itself in creative ways to solve puzzles? Games like Trace Memory, Phantom Hourglass, and Professor Layton (all of which I've played).

clubhaxor

Hotel Dusk. From the makers of Trace Memory.

That's what I was thinking and also maybe Phoenix Wright, Dementium, Mystery Case Files:Millionheir, Broken Sword, Henry Hatsworth (annoying IMO but you never know) they all come up as similar games and are rated decently.

Yeah, those are all pretty good from what I've heard. Dementium seems the least similar to all the others listed. I would say out of all of these Trace Memory and Hotel Dusk use the DS the most creatively (but I haven't played Prof. Layton, Henry Hatsworth or Millionheir).

Phoenix Wright, BTW is one of my favorite DS series, and you get to yell stuff into the DS microphone. I guess that's a little creative.

Thanks for the suggestions. Is MadWorld any good? Also I see that Red Steel: 10.00 and Tenchu Shadow Assassins: 15.00 are on sale. (Along with Boom Blox Party Bash: 30.00 at Bestbuy.) Are these titles any good? I need a more keen eye between shovelware (correct term? Chicken Shoot, Ninjabread Man) then the real prizes. xP.

Ankleslam101

MadWorld: Decent, very funny (but VERY vulgar humor) but the gameplay is repetitive. Good for mindless entertainment, maybe a rental rather than a purchase.

Red Steel: Save your money for Red Steel 2, the vastly improved sequel coming this fall.

As for Tenchu, I haven't played it but I've heard it's okay. Boom Blox is supposed to be good, but it's a party-type game.

Chicken Shoot and Ninjabread Man = DEFINITE shovelware. Stay far far away.

I ended up trading in just Galaxy. With all my family's games combined we got $405 for it all. I bought Rune Factory for the DS (No. 2 wasn't there) and my family bought: Mario Kart, Blastworks, Rhythm Heaven, Super Monkey Ball and $75 store credit.

And shame on you for never hearing of Eledees (Elebits in america) it was my 2nd favourite game after Z&W.

yoshi1476

Okay, see I have heard of Elebits and I had no idea the title was different from region to region. That explains a lot.

Mario Kart Wii Should be on the top of the list because its the most awesomeJackApples

Was this necessary?

Watch, I can do pointless opinions too: Mario Kart Wii should be on the bottom of the list because it's garbage.

One last question: Should I trade in Mario Galaxy, Eledees and Zack and Wiki? I have finished all 3 and though i will probably play them every once in a while their value will drop alot by the time i sell them + i have totally finished all but eledees due to the broken award system.

yoshi1476

If it were me, I would keep Mario Galaxy for now. It won't see as large of a drop in value as most games, and IMO it's more of a "revisit later" game than Zack and Wiki.

P.S. What is Eledees? I have honestly never heard of that one.
