Artistic merit? None at all... but then, neither does my Chimera figure, or my bullet keychain... Not too many game giveaways have true artistic anything, they're just game tie-ins...
And I think the lancer is the ugliest (and one of the stupidest) gun designs ever in a video game. Chainsaw gun, F' Yeah! Nope, cheesy and not for me...
This isn't making it worse. People finding a hidden meaning behind everything, THAT's what makes it worse.
This is a dead torso. Nothing more, nothing less. Those who are seeing sexual violence? Maybe they're being a little introspective, I don't really know.
Agreed, and it's also why I think this conversation is slightly misguided. Fact is, look at anything long enough and hard enough, someone's going to find some kind of offense. Including this post, depending on how you read it.
Also, and this is more playing devil's advocate than anything... if videogames should not be held accountable for sexism, why should videogame marketing be any different?
They make tons of those, just go to a local sex shop. Might open up a lot of people's minds to this topic actually. You can buy basically any part of a woman or man for any sort of sexual pleasure you want. And it's become normal and mainstream. Apparently adding blood (and clothing I might add) is a gamechanger.
