I just tried out "Mass Effect" now, i am currently using Nvidia drivers v185.85 on a Geforce GTX280. I have also not installed the patch.

And I can now finally get into "Eden Prime", so it seems that using updated drivers might also solve whatever problems that you are having.

They host a local or dedicated server. And as for 1., it still dosn't change the fact that there are more users in US and Europe.fudgeblood

Game companies don't ever host any servers in the Middle East or elsewhere, like check out this WoW thread,
http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=3190960715&sid=1

There are lot's of people wanting to have a WoW server in that region, but they don't even get one. Blizzard is going to ditch those regions again.

Here's a couple of gaming search engine sites:-

http://www.gametracker.com/servers/
http://www.game-monitor.com/
http://www.serverspy.net/

There's only one "Call of Duty 4" server in Saudi Arabia, and a couple in Israel. Besides this game, there is no other server for any other game. Even India has a bunch of CoD4 servers. Just look up some other gaming servers yourself in these search engines.

It doesn't change that fact that most companies won't ever place servers in other countries. I really don't see how can companies not take the oppurtunity to make some extra revenue in other countries from sales. Surely there would be people who are more tempted to play the multiplayer component of the game, rather than the single-player component of the game. Surely the amount of extra revenue gained would be more than the cost of hosting a server.

The guy has a laptop, how's he to upgrade the CPU and GPU. He pretty much has to buy a new gaming laptop or gaming desktop.

1. US and Europe have a much larger userbase.
2. The game makers do not often handle the servers, people host dedicated servers.fudgeblood

1. There's only a couple of million people living in the Middle East, a 750 million dollar market share is pretty big for that number of people. It's as if every kid there play video games.

2. With no LAN support in "StarCraft 2" and "Diablo 3", how is anyone going to host a server.

I made no mention of Hamachi in my last post. What i really wanted to say, is why do gaming companies only place their servers usually in Europe or the US.

What on Earth are you talking, why would hamachi save you bandwidth? Just host a server temporarily. BTW not everyone lives there, where I live in lovely California, a typical comcast line is 15/2 for 42 dollars a month. Want more speed? 62 dollars a month: 30/5, want more? 100$ 50/10.JigglyWiggly_

This is the 21th century, who doesn't play games.

Here's an article that says that the Middle East gaming industry is worth 750 million dollars in 2008, http://www.ameinfo.com/201497.html

It's as if these companies don't think a market that's worth 750 million dollars is big enough.

And with that many gamers living there, connecting to foreign servers will only get them higher pings, and the cost of internet in that region is not so cheap for the average household family, so I really think that companies are just losing out in that region.

And ISP's over there are well known for censoring the internet, and other pratices like in the UAE, they have Skype blocked. And VPN programs might help them in that situation.

And with Blizzard removing LAN play from "StarCraft 2" and "Diablo 3", there's no point for people in other countries to even buy the game.

[QUOTE="hassan272"]

What's wrong with trying to help people to play a game online.

Most game servers are located in USA, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, China, Russia.

People living in these countries can get a very low ping, and what about all the other people in the rest of the world. Do you expect them to play a game with a ping over 200ms.

The guide that I have posted will help poeple in these countries to play their game online along with their friends who might also live in the same country.

JigglyWiggly_

Uh, what are you talking about. If you want to host a server, you just go to your router, open the few ports> either run the dedicated server or create server ,play.

Hosting requires a fast internet connection.

Let's take Dubai for example, I am sure everyone knows where Dubai is located. The people living their have access to two major ISP's, "Etisalat" and "Du".

Here's the cost of each resedential internet package that "Du" offers,

256 Kbps / 64 Kbps -- $ 39.41
512 Kbps / 128 Kbps -- $ 50.00
1 Mbps / 256 Kbps -- $ 65.87
2 Mbps / 512 Kbps -- $ 92.32
8 Mbps / 512 Kbps -- $ 118.78
16 Mbps / 1 Mbps -- $ 145.23
24 Mbps / 1 Mbps -- $ 198.14

Most of the people living there might go for the 50$ internet plan, and with 128 Kbps as upload, how is anyone going to host a 16 or 32 player game on their PC. People wouldn't need to host a game of their own if game companies had set up a dedicated server in Dubai with a 100 Mbps business connection.
