Thank you Gamespot for setting in stone the public's opinion of the PS3. Also, thank you for proving that instead of waiting for Sony to fix all ten of these major problems, you could just buy a 360 and Wii and be done with it. Sony has already lost the console war; by the time they address and fix these problems just to get in line with the Wii and 360, it will have been too late to catch up. With the 360 and Wii having awesome current and upcoming lineups, what does the PS3 have to show? $600 blu-ray player with the only upcoming, high profile games being mere sequels to old Playstation franchises? Thank you Sony, but I think I'll pass.
Backwards compatibility isn't even a selling point for me. Since I bought my 360, I have yet to play an original Xbox game on it (save for Halo 2 on XBL every once in a while). In the past six years, my PS2 has yet to see an original Playstation game played on it; I'll just pop it in my PS1 sitting right next to it. Sure, it might be nice knowing that it can, but the fact of the matter is that I'll never use it. When I eventually get my PS3 (if ever), I'm sure I'll never play a PS2 game in it since my PS2 sitting next to it will work just the same. I just don't see the logic in wasting your new console's lifespan playing old games that work just fine on your old consoles.
