(continuning from last post)Mass Effect 3 can be viewed as a piece of art. Bioware and EA can decide not to hear the constructive criticism of its fans (destructive criticism should be ignored) but by doing so they also make the business decision that will very likely lead to a drop in future repeat business. If Bioware is true to its word about listening to fan feedback, then the fans can linked to the artist’s friends mentioned the previous paragraph. To many a fan, the Mass Effect series is great because of all the choices the player can make that have actual influence on the game, it is only natural to feel depressed when that influence is taken away at the culmination of the series. The Mass Effect series is an intellectual property owned by Bioware and EA and any decision that results in actual changes in the series should be there’s. But why is it wrong (addressed to critics who say Bioware is “giving in”) for consumers/fans to voice displeasure with the product and suggest changes and for Bioware to take those Bioware suggestions into consideration? Are they not allowed to improve their product? Can’t an artist and a constructive critic work together to make a better piece of art?

Videogames can be considered art, and art may not need approval. But an artist does wish for approval when they want someone to buy their art, why would a consumer buy a piece of art, assuming they are buying it for them self, when they don't like the art? An artist who wants repeat business or any business often creates custom works request by the consumer, and if they don’t like the first draft of say the painting, if the artist is a painter, will ask/tell the painter to redo and modify the painting to their liking. Besides business reasons, there are several other reasons why an artist would alter their work after they finish the first copy. If an artist wants to evoke an emotional response and a large number of the artist’s friends offering constructive criticism say they don’t feel that emotion when viewing/appraising the art then the artist will mostly likely wish to change the art to incorporate his/her friends suggestions in better evoking the desired response.

"While it's true that we don't get to pick our gender, religion, or sexual preference in the real world". We may not choose it as a child but we most certainly can change our religion as we mature.

games should focus more on narrative. The most important part of a game is the story, not the gameplay. Without story a game is just a series of button presses with no context. The story of pong would be the creation of the game itself. Some games like fighting games may have little story, but at least there is always a few lines of diaglogue. No story=no purpose
