[QUOTE="concord9"]Mind telling me how this game doesn't surpass HL in every conceivable way? IMO this game is the new standard for perfection in the PC gaming realm. HL2 was great...yesterday.Wartzay

HL:2 still does a better job of bringing you emotionally into the game via the unique characters

Indeed.

As to Crysis, Just to add, I went through the demo already 5 times, I wish the game would never end. .. Never.

Oh well, I have rig with:
Intel core2duo E6320
Club3d GF 8600gt 256 MB ed
And 2 gigs of 800MHZ (overclocked) ram.

And, well, what do you know, I can play at medium-high settings. Ofcourse, the most important settings, which make the game look best (shader level etc) are on medium.

As such, the rig is also overclocked as a whole, I can play around 20-30 FPS, which for a singleplayer experience is nice, doubt it'll do in multiplayer.

Anyhow, what do you guys think, would upgrading the 8600gt to a 8800 GTS or GTX be the removal of the bottleneck?
I myself imagine so. But it'll be quite an investement.

And, if there is one game that I would like to upgrade my rig for, then it is Crysis. The demo was just awesome.

This is a really difficult question.

I'd have to go with Operation Flashpoint and other games in the series.

I've just played it ten times more than any other games. I was especially fond of the mission editor.

Realism, is what makes my shot.

Allright, I reevaluate my statement.

My favourite is The UI theme from Brothers In Arms. I get shivers and almost start crying. Listening to it right now.

Haha, I just had an idea:

So, why doesn't gamespot have a TOP10/100 what ever of game soundtrack songs or something?

:D just like Most wanted games TOP10 or something.

They even could have a stream radio with the chart hitters :D and everybody could wote and all!

That would be jolly!

Ok, to the original question:
My favourite is most certainly BF 1942 opening music. The most right music for such a game and the most epic piece I've heard. Superb.

But, my best experience with music in a game:
Yeah, it was years back, Iplayed BF 1942 and was in the Battle for Britain. Guess what, I listened to Iron Maiden's Aces High!!!
That was damn exhilarating. Sweeping through the crowded skies with a Spitfire, ten ME-109's out of the sun... yeah, sorry, I get carried away sometimes.

Well, welcome to the world of serious games then.

Console games are certainly fun and I do play them occasionally, but as to large scale and complicated games .. I have yet to see a mach for the PC.

I've got a low end system at the moment, upgrading next month. I've got a Pentium 4 3,0 GHz, 1GB of ram, GF 7600 GS and I played stalker with medium settings. Such a system could be aquired for 200$ I suppose or less.

PC-gaming real is cheap, even the games are at least twice cheaper if not even cheaper.

As to reccomendations, I for one am a sim-fan. So, I'd reccomend Microsoft Flight Simulator X which I proudly own too. Hell of a detailed "game" with exhilarating missions and all.

But HL2, sure! Play, praise and love it. It is a fascinating experience. But yes, wait for the orange box. Most certainly try stalker aswell. It is really innovative and with nice atmosphere.

And... somewhere I heard a question, why don't we hear about numbers like 720p, 1080p or alike on the PC? Why because these standards have little meaning on the PC. My monitor is running 2048x1536@85Hz resolution and it could take on the burden of a 320x240 resolution aswell and everything in between.

And yes, PC's can handle 1080p for your 40'' (example) TV.

The scariest play in my life, yes...

(eyes fixed on the horizon and a sly smile on my face, I say)

Alien vs Predator, the original game.

Quite all the levels with the marine.

But, for the first time, when I played it, I was not so good a gamer and also I did not know, who brave I actually could be in the game, hence I sneaked, crawled, cried, feared.

I really screamed out hard many times.

Sadly I have never found such an experience again, in a game. Perhaps I'm too good with the gun already and too old. :(

A lot of good games have been mentioned, would like to add one:

Ground Control

Pros:
You can have it for free from fileplanet.
Story is mysterious and quite exciting.
Graphics are still nice to look at, even after all these years passed.
Quite a lot of options how to approach the enemy. You can use very different tactics.

Other:
No base building, straight to the action with blazing in dropships, Heavy tanks, artillery and all other fun stuff.

Cons:
The AI of the game is stupid at times and a frakin camper, mostly.

Edit: How could I forget homeworld? If you want to play through one of the best storylines ever, get that game.
Excellent game, from Relic.Doom_HellKnight

I could not agree more.
