@Khasym @mellow09 There are still deaths by firearms in countries where they are outlawed - there is no denying that fact, - but surely they are less because of the lack of access to legally obtained firearms.

I haven't checked figures for the other types of homicide but the fact remains that this atrocity was carried out with firearms. Firearms that were legally owned by the perpetrator's mother and therefore readily available.

Last year, the number of murders with firearms:

47 people in Japan.

14 in Great Britain.

68 in Switzerland.

144 in Canada.

58 in Sweden.

269 in Germany.

In the US:

9369.

For balance, though, the US was in forth position, behind South Africa, Colombia, and Thailand.

For the record, it is unacceptable.

@MooncalfReviews I think that it is whoever supplies these adult rated games to impressionable youths that are to blame. There are ultra violent films that I'm sure most parents would not allow their children to watch, so why do they think video games are any different. In fact, it is probably even worse as more than likely the player is directly controlling the flow of violence in the video game and is not a passive viewer. By passive I mean, taking no action in the violent scenes, rather than viewing the violence and feeling nothing.

Coming back to the article in question, it appears that ignorance and the need for a scapegoat for the terrible tragedy, have overtakien common sense. The NRA has had blood on its hands for years. Any possibility of them worming their way out of responsibility, they will gladly do so without a care for the ramifications.

1. Baldur's Gate II I still look forward to the challenge of playing as an evil aligned character, something that I have not done yet after years of playing this game. Shock!!! 2. Pro Evolution Soccer 5 The best football game ever. Master League would keep me going forever. 3. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time I really don't think I need to explain this choice. Any gamer worth his salt should have included this one. 4. Halflife The first is still one of my favourite games of all time, and yes, the sequel is superior in many ways, but I still love the claustrophobia and equaly tense moments of walking around Black Mesa fighting government soldiers/assassins and of course the aliens in such imaginative ways. I could keep going back to this game over and over. 5. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City This is the highlight of the series for me; I find it quite hard to get myself into San Andreas despite arguments for it being the best in the series. Maybe it has something to do with VC's soundtrack and cool 80's setting. Scarface over Boys in the Hood anyday.
