hi, I also just received the same e-mail and dont know if it is a fraud.taylor12702003

It's hard to tell, so it's best not to use the provided link, password stealing is reallyadvanced these, as said: Creating a fake website to make you change your password hence accesing everything about you

I just recently recieved an email from from Ubisoft and the message reads as:

"We recently learned that hackers gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers' data and launched a thorough ongoing evaluation of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. Our investigation shows that information such as user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birth dates from these forum accounts on the system may have been compromised, as well as other information (if any) that you may have associated with your EA Account. In an abundance of caution, we have changed your password to ensure account security."
The sender is Aaryn Flynn.

And more about how they take our security very seriously and all that, and as stated above they changed my password for me (sweet!) and provided a link for me to change it. I however did not click it, as the email itself might just be fraud to gain my password, these days they fake an official website to make it seem more trustworthy, which has happened to WoW.
I put the word "might" in the title, as i'm not sure if this is true, but i guess only time will tell.

Has anyone else recieved this email?

EDIT: do NOT use EA's password reseting system, it's been compromised, i went to the official website (through google) and used the "Reset Password" system there and the following message I got is:

Now, that's Norwegian writing and Netherlands, which could tell us that it's a poorly coded program to intercept requests and respond to the native language, mine being Norwegian, seems like the programmer knows how to create an intercept program (which i think is interesting) but not to respond in the native language.

There's been another security breachhttp://edition.cnn.com/2011/TECH/gaming.gadgets/05/24/sony.security.breach/index.html?iref=NS1

Compromising 8500 more users information, however no credit card info has been stolen, or so claimed.

I think this is a real shame, i don't remember what the dude name is who managed to crack the PS3, but he shouldn't have done it, because now this has affected so many gamers! Not only online gaming but the PSN Store, Sony gives great online services and releases great old games from the past like FF7 which i hold very dear to my heart.
When will those hackers just stop blatantly abuse the constitution and the Freedom of Speech? There's one thing to firmly believe what is right, but it's another thing to parade around and exploiting these rights for your own perverse fun.

I hope in time Anonymus will just quite and realise that if they made a product that THEY wanted to protect only someone to steal all their ideas, and implement their ideas to their product, would be annoying.

thanks but this is old news. i made the mistake of upgrading back then, and had to reinstall everything to downgrade.

Manyac

What the previous patches yes that is old news, but the other patches i downloaded never gave me any problems (that i know of) so imagine my surprise reading comments about what that particular patch did to them but never happened to me only to have a major backlash of all these problems, so this thread is kinda for the people who have never had any problems with previous patches to avoid this one.

As some or most or all of you know there is a brand new patch for Dragon Age! But i wouldn't call it a patch as you could say drugs is a good thing. Never before have i witnessed a patch so horrible i almost broke my fist when i punched the wall, no really, i punched the wall!

1) First thing i noticed was the increase of crash rate, oh sorry, let me clear it up: The only crash rates which has only happened when i DL'ed the new patch, the game never crashed before

2) Here's one of the best part, freeze. Again this has only happened when i got the new mentioned patch, there's no special time when it does freeze it all happens randomly so it's pointless to report a full detail.

3) Framerate instability, how do i know this is caused by the patch? Cuz i have the Mars Limited Edition and my card should run this game quite smoothly! An example: Before the latest patch, whenever i went into Amaranthine there was no clear sign of stress or framerate instability but now it happens almost anytime.

4) What i also experienced is when i exit the Vigil's Keep is that 95% of all texture and everything that makes you "see" the game was gone, except characters and doors and the likes, problem did go away after restarting the game but i think in the future it's gonna stay.

5) As of now i'm saving Amaranthine from the Darkspawn invasion, what happened was that 2 skeleton warriors just suddenly spawned on the walkway, not moving nor recieving any damage. So i reloaded the save, barely got into the city and then the game froze.

What is going on with Bioware anyway? Am i mad at them? As of matter of fact i am, this isn't the first patch that has caused problems but since patch v1.01b I've heard various customers experiensing many problems that did not exist prior to the v1.01b and upwards. But those were just A problem or just 2 but 5? Now i love Bioware but what i do not tolerate is how they make a patch to fix problems only to cause more problems that are more frustrating to prior version of the game.

I don't know who is doing the debugging but as of now he or them are doing a horrible job at it, i can just hope with the next patch (if there will be any) will really fix problems and do thorough beta testing of the next patch.

*yawn* call me when this has a price point, release date, and model numbers. Optical CPUs aren't new; They are in the realm of 1,000 TB holographic hard drives, ultra cheap solar panels, and hydrogen powered cars: A million companies promising the tech, and a decade later have nothing to show for it.

XaosII

Then why haven't we (or at least me) heard anything about this related to physical gaming CPU's? Or related?

In a development that could revolutionize how PCs and other tech gadgets communicate, Intel announced Tuesday that it had made the first chip that sends and receives information using beams of light.

The Santa Clara chipmaker said the fingernail-size research prototype already can move 100 hours of digital music or 45 million tweets in a second from one device to another. And the company expects to make one eventually that can transmit a laptop's hard drive in one second and the entire printed collection of the Library of Congress in less than two minutes.
Moreover, because the chips are made of the same material the company uses for its brainy microprocessors, Intel envisions mass producing these "silicon photonic links" at low cost, making them practical for use in everything from personal computers to smartphones.
"The range of potential applications here rivals that which existed at the invention of the transistor," Justin Rattner, Intel's chief technology officer, said in a conference call with reporters. "It's only limited by our imaginations."

"It's actually quite significant and a wonderful step forward," added Alan Wilner, a laser expert at the University of Southern California who is familiar with the technology. While Intel previously had shown progress developing elements of a silicon-based system for transmitting information via light beams, with the chip the company just unveiled, "they've put everything together."
The need for the photonic chip — which Intel said won't be commercially available for at least five years and will work with, rather than replace, the other microchips it makes — has been fueled by the proliferation of electronic gadgets. That includes everything from PCs, printers and scanners to iPads, digital cameras and HDTVs.
Copper connections traditionally used in these gadgets can become overloaded with data, degrading their electronic signals. And because the amount of video and other information being transmitted is expanding rapidly, concerns are mounting that copper is nearing its technological limits.
But vast amounts of data can be transmitted easily via light beams over optical fiber, prompting a number of companies — including Hewlett-Packard and IBM — to begin investigating the technology seriously.

Intel already has a fiber-optic cable product, soon to be offered commercially, for linking home electronic gadgets. The company claims it can transmit data at 10 gigabits per second, about 20 times faster than possible with the USB cable connections common on PCs today.
But the chip it unveiled Tuesday, which sends data via four lasers, can hit 50 gigabits per Seconds. And that's just the beginning, according to Rattner. By adding few more lasers, the company expects to be able to boost that to perhaps 1,000 gigabits, he said.
At that rate, the company said, it could transmit the Library of Congress data in one and a half minutes.
Responding to Intel's announcement, R. Stanley Williams, who directs HP's Information and Quantum Systems Lab, said, "we are excited about the potential this technology holds and are always interested when others in the industry make advancements."
Although telecommunications systems already transmit data with light beams, the equipment used to send or receive that information can cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars, Rattner said.

By contrast, he said, Intel hopes to get the cost of its photonic chips down to $1 apiece.
That would essentially make the technology practical for a huge array of consumer products, similar to the way Ford's early Model T factory transformed society by making automobiles affordable for the masses, said John Bowers, a laser expert at UC Santa Barbara who helped Intel develop the chip.
"It was a huge contribution that changed the world," he said of Ford's manufacturing technology. And when light beams become a common way of transmitting information, "I think that will happen here."
--------
My thoughts on the matter: I find this quite incredible and interesting, with this technology you could only ponder what's going to happen next!
